I wonder about this a lot when out hiking, what’s the closest I’ve ever been to an undiscovered body that’s just completely hidden or overgrown by brush? I've read a few books about the Green River Killer.
One woman who was interviewed told the cops she was walking in some parkland, and smelled something awful. It gave her the willies, so she told the local cops about it, and they claimed someone had dumped some rotten fish in the spot.
Turns out several years later, someone found two of the killer's victims in the same spot. It wasn't rotten fish, the cops were too lazy to investigate themselves.

Mr. Cheese has told me decomposing bodies smell a lot like spoiled pork, so if you're out hiking and smell that particular odor, get away and call cops, anyone to come look.

There's a young guy named Caleb Harris missing in Texas right now and the circumstances surrounding it are weird. I google him all the time looking for updates because it doesn't seem at all like the standard drink guy falls in water and drowns disappearance.
He left his house in the middle of the night and just vanished. His wallet, truck and keys were left at home. He had ordered stuff from uber eats to eat the next day that was delivered and his roommates found it on their porch in the morning. He was supposed to have classes on the Monday and then go fishing with his friends. I think he may have met up with someone for a gay hook up and got murdered.

Eh, even if they were buried, you'd have to bury them more than 3 feet deep to really deter animals that'll dig up the corpse (like cougars and wild pigs). And even then, the conditions can be kind of fucky. Sometimes a body will get eaten up mere hours after you drop it off, sometimes the body will decompose in place and the remains will be there for decades until someone finds them.

In case any other Anons were wondering, I only know about this because I've studied this subject out of curiosity, and I've gone on trails where I'd killed a roaming pig or dog and years later the remains (albeit skeletal) are still there. Shit, there's a full on deer skeleton that's 5 years or so old, literally just laying in an overgrown ditch by the side of a road near me.

Yeah, iirc the unidentified boys are two or three whose remains were badly decomposed. Hopefully they'll be able to get DNA if they haven't already be able to use that to ID them.

I think it was within the past decade they finally ID'd a different Gacy victim whose remains had been unidentified for decades.

When attempts were made to protect her from him, multiple houses burned down, dogs were shot, and foster families were stalked and threatened. While I agree that his bloodline should never have continued, Treena was failed by pretty much everyone. Her parents certainly tried, but they tried legal methods only, when they should have just shot the swine.

I've no doubt that Treena was borderline and unstable as fuck, had a massive case of Stockholm Syndrome, and was an accessory to multiple crimes, but if any criminal deserves compassion, or at least a chance to start over, it would be someone like herself.

There is often some information left out that adds more context to her situation and why it's pretty obvious she fell overboard. She had been drinking all night and returned extremely intoxicated to the room she was sharing with her parents. Her Dad was up with her until 5 am and she was still in the room when he fell asleep. Something ended up waking him at around 5:30 AM and she was gone. It theorized that what woke him up was Amy falling overboard after going out on the balcony to throw up. Apparently the seas were rough at the time so it's more far more likely she pitched overboard while drunk than was kidnapped in that 30 minute window. The internet is far too Gung ho in labeling every woman that disappears as being sex trafficked. Nobody is kidnapping and prostituting women that will cause a fuss when disappearing. Traffic target the poor, the drug addicts, the mentally ill, etc that won't be missed and don't have anything to go back to so they're easier to control.

Same applies to suburban white kids like Johnny Gosch. If you've ever seen any of the documentaries on him that interview his mother, it's pretty obvious that his kidnapping completely destroyed her mind and her stories really can't be trusted. She's in extreme denial and creating fantasies about him showing up and telling her he was being trafficked. Something that's not talked a lot about is that detectives did in fact identify the girl in the photo years later and confirmed it was a joke picture and that their arms weren't bound, they were just clasped behind them. The Doe Network confirmed it with a detective working on the case. They also have known what happened to Calico for a while and just now got enough evidence to try to being charges. I believe the rumor is that they found her bike in a pond on one of the suspect's property.

No, Ridgeway would often dump the bodies by a landmark. In the early days he would come back there to fuck the corpse, but he eventually stepped doing that for fear of being caught. Serial killers can and do change their patterns. It's a small miracle he was caught at all.

On a different note. Chikatilo. No-one seems to be talking about what really happened. He was definitely guilty of some of the killings, but others were most likely pinned on him. Did these murders stop after he was detained in the 90's? A lot of unfinished business in that case.

If I see a "stray dog" high up in the Appalachians, far from any sort of civilization, then it's very safe to assume it's a dangerous wild animal and not an escaped pet. Especially when they look like they've been wild for a long ass time.

Found the urbanite. Outside of bughive-pod cities if you see an animal that's large enough to hurt/kill you and it's not afraid of you it needs to be put down. If it runs away or it approaches in a friendly manner, has a collar, and isn't a shitbull then I won't shoot it right away.

He did dump quite a few victims off the side of the road, he would go back months later and move parts of bodies around.
IIRC, he buried one girl because he noticed she was pregnant after he killed her and claims he felt bad.
With another girl, he took her skull and left it in Oregon.

Especially since the FBI reopened the case and was found to be trying to secretly get DNA to test from the family? Apparently his son finally gave them DNA since his mother died. His old army buddies had also reported him to the FBI at the time because McCoy had been obsessed with the ramp on those planes and had talked about planning a heist involving it. And the fact he ended up committing an identical hijacking 5 months after the DB Cooper heist. Makes sense that he does the first one, loses the money in the jump, then decides to do it again since he didn't get caught the first time.
