I think Nick knew legally exactly what he was doing and what he was saying when he made those statements. As well, his dare to Monty to sue him over it. It was deliberate and he thought he could get away with it.

When I first signed up for the Farms, I did so because I couldn't believe that an actual real lawyer had said what Rekieta had said. Or, having done so, when rat-arsed drunk, hadn't immediately apologized and retracted his statement. When I said as much on here, there was almost complete consensus that you could defame people in the USA with impunity and Monty stood no chance at all. People were pointing to Elon Musk and the Thailand guy as an example of why Rekeita had no cause to worry.

Five minutes Googling turned up the case of Pat the Paedophile -- a Minnesota defamation case that was not dissimilar to Rekieta's. But Pat was actually fucking a teenage girl and he still won. But people were kind of missing my point, which was that even if Monty only wins a dollar, no actual lawyer would subject themselves to the life sapping stress of a defamation lawsuit, not to mention the horrendous costs involved in defending yourself.

Why would you do it if you could make it all go away with a retraction and an apology? The only explanation that made any sense was that Nick thought he'd be able to grift off it -- like he'd grifted off Vic Mignona's lawsuit. But it's one thing to be a Law YouTuber reporting on somebody else's defamation lawsuit -- something else entirely to be trying to grift off a lawsuit you've brought on yourself.
