I think it's way too early to write the situation off as low consequence for Nick. We have no idea what was going on in that house, I think some form of child abuse is likely. We also don't know what else the cops are going to find in that house, now they have the drugs and the gun the cops have probable cause to go through their assets with a fine-tooth comb.

I don't know man, I think this could turn out extremely ugly for Nick before everything is over and done with.
