Honestly, it's not actually that bad. Dirty clothes on the floor, dirty dishes, and dust? That is slob stuff but isn't really neglect. Plenty of non-drug addicts live in the same conditions. It's more so evidence that they fired their maid so she wouldn't see the illegal drugs as opposed to actual neglect.

I think there is an acceptable level of dirt at home, and in those circumstances they wouldn't mention it. But they did. So it was beyond normal.
Like, if the sink or even half the kitchen would be filled with dirty dishes then that's normal for a big family. But if you have moldy bowls with old cereal, or half eaten takeaways stinking up the place and laying around in bedrooms - yeah that's not normal.
But especially with dust, I don't think anyone was conducting a housekeeping inspection with a white glove lol. So if the cops noticed a thick layer of dust (and mind you, they just had the whole ordeal with trying to get into house) - it must have been THICK. We are talking sticky, thick layer that probably indicates that nobody cleaned anything in months. Which then also means - that's attracting insects, and is affecting breathing, may cause allergy and is just not healthy, especially for young kids who often play on the floor, lick their hands and such.

They began casing the house.
Then they pulled over April with drugs.
April agreed to help the police.
The addition of an informant gave them probable cause.
They searched the house.
