I've seen them take responsibility. It's typical among ones who are struggling to stay chaste, but fall off the wagon so to speak (I've typically been in the same boat and we both found out afterwards; not targeting these types). No excuses from them. What you're describing may be common, but it's not an immutable trait of the female species.
