I genuinely feel so bad for this kid. I don’t even know how he’d begin to break free.

Those photos remind me of that ICONIC interview where he’s chillin with Michael Alig. That will never not raise the hair on my neck. As a kid with some awareness that I was different, I recall encountering someone like Alig once, in line at a store. Dude had the fucky Jeffrey Marsh voice, kneeling down, bad breath and all to tell me & my brother how “cool” we were. Kids can sense the innate wrongness in someone like that, this man had spoken to me for all of 10 seconds before my mother told him to fuck off.

You’d have to be the worst kind of person to detect possible gayness in your child and intentionally strip that sense of protective intuition from that child. Kids that are a bit different need extra protection and awareness about the wrong kind of person, not teaching them that someone is inherently okay because they’re gay. Or that being gay is this.
It’s so disturbing watching Desmond interact with Michael and his cohost, he’s far too comfortable even though his body language still shows evidence of that sense something is wrong.

I still see this in these recent photos. He always looks like he smiles because that’s what you do when a camera is shoved in your face.
How did he drop the drag kid persona if he’s still in some low end drag house? It’s almost as if maybe he thinks he can be a “normal girl” to get away from drag, which is weird but it’s obvious why he’d feel compelled to stay in the alphabet soup.

I for one am someone who loves natural androgyny and playing that up (such as Grace jones or David Bowie), the kind that highlights both the similarities and differences of beauty within both sexes. It’s sad to me that with this ideology, such a thing couldn’t exist. David Bowie himselfsaid being bisexual was just a small facet of him, not something to wave a flag for as he was a musician.
It’s so depressing to me that Desmond could’ve been an eccentric guy who appreciates femininity in a personal, genuine way rather than being molded into a cartoonish stereotype. People would likely be way more understanding and accepting of that.

My main hope for him is that he somehow makes a friend of his own age who is smart, not lost in the sauce who encourages him to develop a personality. This is a long shot though
