TTYD on the GameCube still holds up incredibly well after all these years, and I don't think this paperization treatment towards it is really in its favor.
Tbh, I don't mind the recent graphics changes, I think they're fine. But i do question, yeah, why did they bother to do a full on remake instead of simply remastering it? Because it's not like the original game's graphic system or physics system or whatnot was totally broken beyond repair. They probably could've done most of the changes they wanted to make to the style without having to redo everything from the ground up. Just seems like an odd choice to me.

I've got some bad news for you. She's got a cat-ear headband now.
Okay, but here's the good news:

Ghost blowjob! Woo woo!

The game didn't need a remaster or remake in the first place, thanks to the artstyle and other design choices it actually aged extremely well. Paper Mario 64 would've benefited more from a remaster, although if they had fucked that game up, it would've stung a lot more.

Ehh, yeah in most departments it did age well but I'm not going to discount the benefit that upgraded textures have, especially on modern displays.

PM64 is an odd one because it seems to have an art style that's different from most of the other Paper Mario games. So I don't know how faithful Nintendo would've been to recreating that style. Tbh I trust modders more in that sense. They've made faithful texture packs for games like Mario Kart 64 and Majora's Mask for example

So you cannot skip or speed up the text in the game, even though you could in the original? And on top of that, the chat log that was in the previous game is absent.

Honestly that pisses me off more than anything else. Even if you can ignore the localized, bastardized translation....why in the FUCK would anyone want to sit through all that dialogue at a speed they can't control? Screw everybody who reads faster than an 8 year old I guess. I wouldn't want to play ANY version with that bullshit. As if the game isn't long enough already.

PM64, I feel, was retrofitted with the paper aesthetic much later in development than people probably think. There's certain effects that aren't even in future games, like how the character sprites actually have an algorithm for light reflecting off of characters as if they were three dimensional. You can mostly see this when walking down hallways as Peach. The contours of her hair and face illuminate differently as she walks near light sources. That most likely explains why the art style in 64 is so different. That said, that also means it will be difficult to replicate. If it gets remade, they'll unquestionably lean in to the paper designs once again, and so it'll just become homogenized with the rest of the series.

Weird how the mod that simplely machine translates the Japanese script is tagged as NSFW but the mod that makes Mario gives characters the bird isn't tagged NSFW.

Why don't you play the mod to get an idea why it got the label?

Last time I checked one of these, the characters were literally talking about sex and hating niggers.

Also there's this:

It'd be weird if a translation mod that removes all the political correctness got labeled NSFW tho, but I don't see that happening yet.

I thought the tranny thing was always part of the subtext of the original game, so idk why spotlighting it like this changes anything for anyone who isn't a braindead retard who didn't get it

Why do they always have to try so fucking hard when time after time, we have seen this stuff doesn't work when it's super explicit and on the nose, it's annoying

Anyway Birdo is best nintentroon

The saddest thing about this to me is that a game from 2004 is one of the most anticipated releases this year.
Sad but unsurprising. The industry is completely creatively devoid and has been for a long time now. The Gamecube era is like the last time Nintendo were actually good. Yeah, some of those early Wii games were good (Mario Galaxy, Prime 3, Super Paper Mario, Twilight Princess) but most of those were either straight up Gamecube games (Twilight Princess) or were initially developed for the Gamecube and moved to the Wii (Super Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy, Prime 3)

Like I said before, no matter how you look at it, even if they hadn't woke-ified the Thousand Year Door remake, it still would have demonstrated that Nintendo is just not capable of a game of that quality any more. The Mario RPG remake is the same thing as well, they took a game that looked unique and made it look like everything else and then they dumbed down the difficulty on what was already a pretty easy game

Vivian has been de-troonified!

Archive once again attached, because if ANY mod were to get orbital striked by the troons, it's this one
I can already predict this shit is gonna cause a lot of REEEEing from trannies, I won’t lie that this whole shit has actually made not want to touch TTYD anymore, I’ll just stick to PM64 or play Super Paper Mario instead. I haven’t played the former, yet at least but I do remember Super Paper Mario being good for what it was, hard carried by its story and characters.

With all the news about the decomp and all that, I might just hold out to play PM64 since I hear a lot of good things about it.

It's funny that the troons bring up the black samurai because they're both examples of Westerners ignoring Japanese culture and history in an attempt to push their own America-centric ideological agendas and narratives.
It's literally Yasuke, a historical figure, a retainer to fucking Oda Nobunaga. Nioh included him in both games and that was made by Koei Tecmo, a JAPANESE company. Ubisoft will fuck his story up, there's no doubt about that, but it's not this culture war bullshit. This thread is fucking embarrassing.

Also, apparently the game is piss easy which has resulted in a flood of "pre-hooktail Pit of 100 Trials" posts in inbreddit because a) partners who faint will now have 1 HP after fleeing which makes it super easy to set up Danger starts and b) if you fail at any point, you're allowed to repeat the fucking floor. You read that right. If at any time you die on any of the floors of the hardest part of the game, you are given a fucking mulligan and spat out into the same floor to try it all over again.
What is even the point of the challenge if the challenge is completely mitigated?

What i talked about is that these same peolpe probably didn't know a single thing about him until now. With Nioh it was just a cool boss fight but now you have people pretending they are history experts over this guy.
