Just listened to Jim's stream, and when nick was blaming him for causing the lawsuit with Montegraph Jim played a clip of the original conversation. They were talking about how Monte failed in his previous defamation lawsuit, and Nick talked about why he screwed up doing pro se. Monte fucked up the jurisdiction and got the case thrown out because of it. You see, Monte tried to file the lawsuit in his home state, Colorado at the time, instead of the home state of the guy calling him a pedophile. According to Nick, the correct move would have been to sue in the defamer's home state. I know lawyers, practicing or otherwise, have a reputation for being liars, but this junkie is so shameless. He knows that the previous lawsuit did not fail because Monte could not prove he was not a pedophile. He knows the whole basis of his appeal was bullshit.

The absolute Irony being that in his own case against Montegraph Nick and his lawyers were desperately tying to convince a judge of the reverse, that Monty should have sued in his own home state rather than that of the defamer (Nick). Of course that failed for him.

I was wondering about this while rewatching the original Jim-Rekieta-Montagraph stream. IIRC that was my introduction to Nick and I thought he was a pretty cool guy at the time. Now it became apparent just how many times he makes sex jokes apropos to nothing, it's no wonder his drunk brain goes there constantly.

I think this illustrates part of Nick's problem as well. He was the one who got his stream going and he did manage it in a way that helped it's success. However, he didn't have to work to get there. My understanding was he was a part time lawyer living off a trust fund. Then he stumbles into streaming and it hits a sweet spot. The lack of responsibility and hard work building his life seems to have left an open space for his selfish, self-pleasing inner frat boy to thrive.

Think about it. He’s approximately 40? He was admitted into the bar association in 2015? 9 years of legal practice *doesn’t Guarantee a cushy living. Most of the money likely came Elsewhere (trust fund; and so the lawyering likely was just a thing on the side.)
