CPS case and criminal charges are separate. IANAL but it will take at least a year before they get custody of the kids back if they are proven to have done nothing wrong (which obviously isn't the case) and that's best case scenario for Nick (or rather worse case for him, he obviously has wanted rid of them for a while because they get in the way of his coke sessions and sexcapades).

Barnes has lost me on this. He's treating witness statements for PC under evidentiary rules, like the cops can't rely on credible witness statements due to heresay. As if the video with powder on his nose is inadmissible for a search warrant because "well we don't REALLY know what it is" level of shit. My concern was that the cops got a search warrant solely based on a mandated reporters statement. That's not the case as we see, so I have almost no clue what he's arguing now.
I 100% believe you. I've seen him do similar shit myself, elsewhere.
