Man who spent $14K to become a collie changes his mind after realizing it's 'very difficult' to walk like a dog - Toco is now considering imitating other animals such as a panda, bear or a fox


A Japanese man who spent thousands of dollars to transform into a dog said that he has changed his mind after realizing it's hard to walk like a dog.

Toco spent $14,000 on a custom-made rough collie costume in 2022 in order to fulfill his lifelong fantasy of 'becoming an animal.'

He waited for 40 days as the special suits and makeup company Zeppet finished his 'ultra-realistic' dog costume in 2022, before finally being able to live his dream.

But now, he has revealed that the challenges of moving like a dog have made him consider imitating other animals.

'Dogs and humans have different bone structures and the way they bend their legs and arms, so it's very difficult to make movements that look like this.

'I might realistically be able to become another dog, a panda or a bear, a fox or a cat would also be nice, but they are too small for humans to try.

'I'd like to fulfill my dream of becoming another animal someday', the animal lover told Japanese news outlet WanQol.

In January, Toco uploaded video footage of his quest to successfully jump hurdles and climb A-frames while on all fours in his collie costume for his cult following of over 61,000 followers on YouTube to see.

In a video - titled 'A human turns into a dog! I tried agility in realistic dog costume!' - the man performs a series of agility tests alongside his seemingly puzzled Japanese Akita companion.

Toco's first attempted to jump a yellow-steel hurdle, measuring about 40cm high, before crashing down in a heap onto the supporting pole.

Next, the human-dog hybrid tried to effortlessly glide through a line of colorful weaving poles - before struggling to fit through the first four.

The third test was in the form of a A-frame. Toco stepped on using his front 'paws' to drag himself up and walk forward, before accepting his fate and spiraling backwards onto the ground.

Both fans and critics flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on Toco testing his agility skills as a dog.

Toco told MailOnline in May 2022: 'Ever since I was a small child, I wanted to be an animal. I think it is a desire to transform. I've thought about it since I can remember.'

The dog lover said he has hidden his identity and his human face from the world because he doesn't want to be judged by people he knows.

'I don't want my hobbies to be known,' he said, 'especially by the people I work with.'

Toco added: 'They think it's weird that I want to be a dog. For the same reason why I can't show my real face.'

I saw a video of this guy being walked in his dog suit trying to be stealth and it was very disturbing.

He doesn't need a suit for that, he could just sign up for the army and become part of operation infinite walrus

If he was ever serious about becoming a dog he'd have gone all out got his balls cut off like the real thing. At a vets office

My inner pedant compels me to point out that dogs don’t have reversed kneecaps. They have forward facing kneecaps, the joint that goes ‘the other way’ is an ankle, and the metatarsals of the foot are elongated compared to a human, so it looks to us like their ankle is a backwards knee and the metatarsals are a shin.
(Apologies for the akshually, it’s a compulsive pedantry thing. )
