There are three judges and she is the senior judge. With the amounts of drugs involved and the sort of case this is, she was probably going to get it. $3,000 across seven (or eight if the nanny was feeding herself too, but I'll assume seven people) people is $400 or so each a month. Four weeks in a month, so that's $100 a week per person, or $15 a day. That's really easy to hit if you're shopping at someplace that's spendy, and Aaron said they were shopping somewhere that had "very good snacks" so it's probably somewhere that marks shit up.

EDIT: Also, this was awhile ago, and the nanny has been fired for awhile. There's no indication that there's an overlap between when they were spending this much on groceries and when the children were underfed.
