Putting the sentencing that far in the future means they never wanted to actually jail him. If they did, they'd do it today, that's far enough in the future they know it'll at worst be put on hold during appeals if it's not already remanded by that point.

No, everyone knew this was the most likely of outcomes. It was blatantly rigged against him. Now he appeals a few times (since the appeals court is just as corrupt as this judge) and it gets overturned eventually. But the goal was never to punish him, it was to give Biden something, ANYTHING, to talk about that's not Biden.
If they railroad him into a jail cell, maybe you might see people getting upset. If they try and take away his Secret Service protection, which is them blatantly trying to get him assassinated, you might see people get ... perturbed. If one of their little goons decides to take him out after they realize this still isn't stopping what's coming, you might see some people on the right become... ineloquent in their responses.
But as was said in that excellent days of rage review I post sometimes, you won't see this get bad like lefties get bad. Lefties can organize a summer of love because they have institutional support -- and that institutional support can be taken away, as we're seeing around the area of the DNC convention. Righty political violence will be random guys with hunting rifles reminding the bigwigs there are 20 million Americans going hunting each year and they've spent the past 30 years (accelerating a lot the past 8-12) chopping away the American cultural bedrock that prevented what's coming.

Scheduling the sentencing date for 4 days before the Republican convention starts isn't a "we don't actually want to jail him" move, it's a "we desperately hope sentencing him to infinity years in jail for being Orange gets RINOs on board with a backdoor scheme to replace him, and hopefully that's enough time to accomplish it while it's still fresh in everyone's memory" move.

No. They are going to mewl about how nobody is above the law for the next month along with FELON FELON FELON. They will then be perplexed when his poll numbers don't crater but most likely go up even.
If the NY court had even bigger balls they would deny bail and lock him up in jail right now.

Look, I know as much as you do as what would/could happen from this verdict.
I'm fucking tired. Our elected officials have exhausted their efforts on prosecuting Trump for bullshit while:
Inflation is through the roof, we're approaching two global wars, immigration has turned into a complete joke, DEI is forced down my throat, crime is up and all the while, the people that MADE THIS HAPPEN expect me to just carry on like nothing has happened.

Now would be a good time for the RNC to start messaging to blacks since they are most likely to know someone who has been railroaded by a DA on trumped up charges as well. Make that relatable tie immediately.

For years I maintain this is what will happen:
Trump wins in November with equal or greater EV numbers than 2016. The fraud can't beat it. But Joepedo won't accept the results (they always accuse you of what they are doing). This will continue for two months, but Joepedo will not allow the transition, and even have his generals defend his actions. They will force the GOP to pick someone else, and they will oblige because now Trump doesn't matter, they just wanted his votes. It won't be legal but it won't matter.
