The Judge sets rules for the Jury to abide by in their decisions. Jurors don't necessarily have a way to explain someone's actions.

It's hard to make an example but, the judge will give rules that will be like leading their answers to the hard truth of whether or not they did the crime, despite any outside circumstances.
