I always wondered how they were going to side-step the fact that a state court can't charge federal statues, as they don't have jurisdiction. I'm now more confident than ever that the judge has been in on it the entire time. That's why they HAD to ask if the jurors "felt it was to farther an underlying crime" rather than proving the underlying crime. This shit should be toast on appeal. There is no way "do you feel he committed a crime" is an acceptable burden of proof over "did the state prove he committed a crime".
