Well it seems that earlier concerns about fandom taking over the site were completely right.
Also, has anyone noticed the new and updated rules?
Update. Can confirm that "hornyposting" includes even posting screenshots of cute or sexy girls from official media. The "objectification" rule is being played fully anally and as deranged as it gets. You can't "objectify" literal fictional less than objects now. If it's female characters that men like.
Fandom being every bit as ruinous, toxic and deranged as first feared.
They even outed the long time admin (SBAllen) running the site. Installing new (2023) accounts as admins. He chose to "step down" and "part ways" with fandom. They have a handful of new admins, including fandoim's "Director of Trust & Safety"
Here's what a "lead mod" had to say about the politics ban:
I brought this up on CE, but I can answer this here too. If a game has political theming it's of course fine to talk about that. I don't think anyone is going to be moderated for talking about the anti-capitalist themes of Final Fantasy VII. I don't think anyone is going to get moderated for talking about Wolfenstein either. As for that second comment. Anything that's say, a basic human right or even just a basic fact about reality? That's not political. Just because one particular group likes to make science and social denial their political points doesn't mean those things actually are politics. We're not going to go around moderating people for being Trans or talking about Trans issues just because right-wingers are trying to spin being trans into a political statement.
And if you want an idea about how this will be enforced.. Again, from a head mod replying to a post asking about what counts as "political":
To that end. The boycott of Hogwarts Legacy is an interesting case. On the one hand, the motivation for that boycott was to protest the original creator's views. This is, in my opinion, perfectly fine. We can call it politics if you want, but at the end of the day a single person's shitty views on a class of person she doesn't believe deserves equal rights just makes her a bigot. Not a political entity.
So even the most niche SJ politics are allowed by default and talking about or pointing out even censorship itself will probably be banned.
Another:

They don't even try to hide it. This is one of the people running the mod staff for a while. Suddenly a lot makes sense.
The topic has a lot of the usual suspects also worrying about the lack of silencing and banning of "GG types" and discussions about censorship and SJ crap in games, and it not being counted/censored enough. Even a few complaining about the efforts against "sexism" not being enough. I haven't looked at the accounts in detail but this feels like a ResetEra and reddit invasion. A coup in everything but name.. Taking advantage of the new woke ownership. Basically overnight, the site has descended to ReeeEra lite levels of rules. No straight sexy/fanservice, hyperventilating about letter people and politics done as if debate was always on the edge of life or death stakes. (and OC the banning of the wrong opinions)
My favorite part though is that they closed the current events and other such boards, banned all politics posting everywhere but one board, and then locked that board to anyone who hasn't posted in it enough in the past, has never been banned or warned before. No new members, no members who have ever got in any trouble. I mean the original politcs board already had an enforced narrative where prolonged disagreement with the correct view resulted in sudden banning after a while. But this is nuts.
Hell, they are even cracking down on bans and turning account bans into perma person bans. The site is a true walking dead at this point. The sudden drop in main site poll voting and activity over the last half year makes a lot of sense.
It seems like fandom is trying to kill off the boards completely. Which is in keeping with current corporate logic on fan discussion that isn't social media.
