I've been listening to this man for 10 years, ever since the 5 Guys video. I've heard him upset but never quite sad. I think he was looking at Nick and seeing the life he could have had if he'd never gotten sick. He's said he wanted kids and outside of streaming he strikes me as a generally conservative man that cares about his family and career. I think he saw Nick casually throwing away that which was taken from him, and it burns. I understand it because it's what I want too, the only thing in my way now is money. I hate Nick for throwing it away.

I think Metokur is heartbroken in a much different way than most people are taking into consideration. Recently he has been more open about the prospects he had once looked upon as very much realistic being taken away. A particular sour note in his voice in the Mersh stream was about how he can no longer have children as doing so would leave Jade a single mother.

In one of his streams from years ago he discussed how he wanted and studied to be a teacher, but gave up the hope of it due to how rancid the education system is,

I think Nick has hurt Metokur in a profound way -- it is very likely while Nick was stable that he was also the example of someone that made it big and still managed to keep their shit together; something that very likely would have been the same for Metokur if he hadn't stopped streaming due to ill-health. Nick has literally everything that I could imagine a man like Metokur truly seeing as proper happiness, and it was all thrown away for some quick thrills.

I think that Metokur's hope for Nick isn't due to being hopeful for him, but rather it's hope for the children's sake.

I know Jim doesn't keep 'friends' but he also clearly does, or at least has preference, and now he's in a situation where everyone he once knew, everyone that was close to being his equal, are gone. It's the same as Null described - the amount of people that can be talked to has crashed.

Metokur is someone who's body has been broken in ways most humans would never wish to experience; he is kept in perpetual limbo. Death stalks him near enough to know that it's always a potential, but far enough that it lingers like a bad smell. As far as we can tell there are no weird things in the history of Metokur, he is an everyone's man. He genuinely seems to be a good person, and right now he is perpetually suffering with his life on borrows time and his dreams shattered while the assholes - the same assholes that still to this day mock him and shit on the cancer, despite it clearly being real - sit there with the opportunity to live that dream and they fuck it all up.

There was no confirmation, only the vague child endangerment charges against Kayla. We didn't have evidence of the pastor or teacher receiving reports about the condition of his kids or the police search report.

It was probable cause for the warrant. All of the stuff about what led the cops to that conclusion didn't leak until a couple of days later (if i remember correctly). It was assumed at the time that the drug possession/use was what led to the neglect charge.

It was not, and one of the girls begged one of the cops for some clean clothes since they had been wearing the same outfit for days.

This whole situation is really reminding me of, honestly, Technoblade.

Yeah, he was a minecraft youtuber, but I would argue in his sphere, he was pretty much the best. And you go into one video he made, and you just see this pure drive for life that most people seem to not have. He did work hard at what he did.

And his situation was honestly even worse. Just skirting his way into being 23 when he died. His own father lowering him into his grave. And what happened to everyone else around him in the Dream SMP sphere? Grooming, Bad decisions, Assault, etc.

And I think about the specific pain of that. Having so much luster and joy for life, wanting to do great things with the time you have. Only to be struck down. And you watch, people who do not know what they have, pissing their lives away in the wind. You do better, even as you rot.

Having that kind of tragedy happen once is a catastrophic event. Having it happen twice is proof god hates us.
