Recess: Next Bell Pitch Bible Leaked - A continuation series for the 1997 Disney cartoon Recess has leaked online, and it's gay as fuck.

I think the part I hate the most about this is that it's written by the original creators. This is something I'd expect from 35 year old millennial manchildren and womanchildren, not 64 year olds who've been doing this for more than half their lives. The fat kid got "a mysterious illness" and died? One of the kids grows up to become Chelsea Manning? An episode about lesbian romance between elementary school kids? It almost seems like it was intentionally written as a joke, like they were desperately asked to come up with a pitch for a sequel or reboot so they wrote the worst thing that they could imagine as a "fuck you" to the modern generation of writers.

THAT 9 YEAR OLD TOMBOY FEIGNED INTEREST IN BOYS. TOTAL LESBO AM I RITE
I'm not sure any of you watched the show as she continually had story arcs where she was embarrassed by the male gaze and had no romantic interests except the one time they had her like TJ without any real background.

Spinelli does not exist for men and would've become a raging feminist dyke. Cry some more.

She came off as autistic.

I didn't know you support eugenics/forced sterilization of 'undesirables'

uhhh soooo she's asexual then?

She's not straight and that's pretty obvious through this debate. She had no sexual interest, her only crush came from peer pressure that was one of her closest friends she most related to and had no interest in female domestic activities. She was put off by her mother's femininity while enamored by her hippie dippie new age teacher. She became close friends with Finster (which is just a play on Spinster, an old single woman) and in many ways saw her as a female role model. Spinelli's sapphic arc in spite of her tomboy appearance and interests is the entire point of Spinelli.

Therefore I agree that she deserved her own spin off since everyone feels very strongly about her. But maybe we just need a Spinelli spin off, not a Recess one.

It is sad. but ultimately not suprising. A lot of boomer cartoon creators have been pushing being woke as much as poissible in a vain attempt to be relevant in the current year. In their minds they are just desperately trying to be seen as cool to the youth of today.

They don't want to appeal to the milenials that watched it as kids. They are after Zoomers and the Tik Tok crowd, adn they are perfectly willing to burn their legacy to achive it. Fear of getting old and irrelveant plays a huge part. Many such cases sadly.

Yea they do; who do you think this hyper woke crap appeals to? Kids?

Kids wanted to see the crazy antics of the Rugrats, not whatever their parents are doing.

Jesus christ the artstyle of this thing looks exactly identical to every other animated didney owned show since the proud family reboot.

I really hate this stupid trend of having white male childhood protags become bad, selfish manchildren who never grow out of bad habits and end up destroying their lives. It's such a stupid fucking trope, I hate subversion.
It's even more ridiculous because they make it BLATANTLY CLEAR this time withthis it's a "THIS IS YOU OLD FANS! YOUR THIS BAD/SAD LOSER GUY!"
God imagine making a cashgrab sequel and then projecting your greed onto the baseball hat kid you also chose to ruin the life of to make an "own" at old viewers that may or may not have gotten fucked over in life.

The parents antics in the OG iteration that show were well received too, though! Every time the reboot from a few years ago gets brought up one of the first things I always hear from whoever that brings it up aside from the horrid cgi is how it fucked up Grandpa by trying to "update him for modern audiences"

Clearly not? There's an episode where she clearly likes a boy (you said it)

14yos and under aren't "sexual", at best they'll "like" someone and hang out, but no, 10 year olds don't think about sex and usually don't care about relationships.

Question; are you retarded?
I'm not sure how everyone decided to sexualize a kid relationship but people are aware of their inherent likes and dislikes in terms of gendered partners.

How can I be retarded when your post is in direct contradiction within one sentence since we are talking about whether her "liking" TJ, as depicted in the episode written by people that are not in this discussion, determined her romantic interests. She already liked TJ - they were friends and had always been friends. There is no debate about that. The episode depicted her potentially developing a "crush" due to the social pressures of growing up even though it was not something that came natural to her. The episode was not about whether they would continue to be friends on the playground as she was exploring how this new set of social expectations would alter their existing friendship.

Anyone immediately jumping to sexualizing this relationship is an illiterate pedophile grasping at straws.

It's just very clear that Spinelli has always been portrayed as an ambiguous female figure - I wouldn't argue her talking about having lesbian experiences as an adult: as the writers seem to already be aware of this stupid argument and had her exploring her sexuality post-Recess and not on the playground like sexpest degenerates.

So you concluded that her, despite liking boys and having a crush on boys, she actually becomes a carpet munching hardcore lesbian? Take your gender theory bs back to Tumblr.

First off, you're the one assigning sexualities to 9 year olds. Don't try to flip the script now. You are the one saying she has chemistry with another 9 year old here. And don't try to back track and say "I meant an adult this whole time YOU guys are the weirdos!", you said "she probably wanted to fuck the ashleys more than be one" giving the implication that a 9 year old wants to have a lesbian fuck. That was ALL you. You're the one that brought sexualization into this "relationship" But I digress.

Being repulse by traditional femininity, and refusing to be a conformist to what society says you have to do in order to be a "pretty girl" and refusing to deny who you are for social pleasantries doesn't make you a lesbian. It just means you have an identity outside of what you're told to do and that fits into any sexuality you want it to. Every 9 year old girl feels yucky about boys unless they're pressured, it doesn't mean she's gonna grow up to be a lesbian. COULD she grow up to be a lesbian? I guess, i'm not saying she can't. But just judging a 9 year old's behaviours and preferences doesn't mean they'll grow up to be gay, and it's kind of weird to decide non conformity is "gay coded"

Either way the weird thing is the fact people think this deeply about her sexuality in the first place. She was my favourite as a kid because I found her relatable, not because I decided she was a carpet muncher once i hit puberty.

the fact that the original creator of the show pitched this is pretty damn depressing.

Everyone's just trying to play the game; understanding that the white executives they're pitching to are only interested in selling anti-white product. Joe Murray went forward with making himself the trans self-insert in the Rocko revival, even after his own kid clocked it as pandering. And no one felt bad for him in the least when Nickelodeon dumped it on Netflix to quickly fade into the rest of the politically expedient noise.
