Fair point. I gave up video games twice in my life. Once because I had a lot of friends I'd rather spend time with. And another because I thought the games were making me 'lazy and depressed'. The former was good and the latter almost led to me developing worse hobbies.Video games don't cause depression but isolation definitely does.
Also, if you like video games, you sort of crave challenges so you often replace it with things like politics so you can get mad about stuff and fight against it.
