I actually need to make a longer spergpost re: Kids learning to clean, cook, etc.

Children do not magically come into this world fully formed with the knowledge of how to clean their clothes, of how to fold them, of how to put them away.

Children do not really know how to clean themselves properly, they do not know that they have to use deoderant.

People do not learn how to cook when they turn 14. I have met college aged individuals who cannot do much more than microwave frozen food for themselves. Hell, I know mayn fully, adult men who cannot cook for themselves. Just totally incapable. Because people have to be taught, or have to actively learn.

Even then, if they are taught that, they can only do it if someone goes out and purchases the food to be cooked. Purchases soap, purchases dish detergent, purchases laundry detergent, purchases oh so many things needed to do this. Children cannot do this because children do not do jobs, children do not have access to money and bank accounts and credit cards to purchase these things. A 16 year old boy cannot be expected to provide for an entire family of 4 other children, plus the 4 other strung out druggies doing shit. Its absolutely absurd to suggest that.

But that doesn't take it far enough. It is outright evil to say "If you want your family to stay together, you all need to do the jobs that mommy and daddy can't." Family isn't valuable in and of itself Its why there are so many stories out there of 'found family'. Its why there are stories of familiar abuse and the horrors and traumas it can inflict. A family that does nothing but drain the life from you is not worth holding together like this. Kids need attention and care from adults to train them, to teach them, and most of all to care for them. A family that lacks a mother and father that can do such a thing is no family at all and does no favors to anyone by staying together.

I sincerely hope that EVS suffers in horrible ways for suggesting that. What an absolutely disgusting piece of shit. Well put. And to add to all this, even if the child is exceptional and has all the skills, time and materials to parent 4 other kids, that's also assuming the parents will let them do the chores. I had a friend whose mother was obstinate to him cooking dinner because she didn't trust him, even though they ate trash (or nothing) most nights. And having seen their house myself, there was too much junk covering the kitchen to safely use it anyway.

I haven't seen the proof, but someone said earlier in the thread that the washing machine was only accessible from the parents' bedroom. Well, you can imagine Nicks' reaction if little Johnny wanted to interrupt his coke and balldo sesh for something as trivial as "clean clothes".
