I wonder how much money she left on the table, and how many people who could have been fans she turned away, by constantly trying to bury her Nostalgia Chick videos. She only uploaded them because others were putting them on mirror channels, and then she'd private them as soon as they got some traction because it turns out people still liked them. And she hated that.

And Lindsay will hate that.

And I will laugh, especially if she calls him out. But considering the burn Bob got last time, I reckon he'll try and stay away from her. Which is a shame because him trying and failing to reconnect would be hilarious.

Its probably for the best. Whatever spark she might have had as the Nostalgia Chick is long gone. If anything I am suprised people that knew her from her Channel Awesome days followed her when she became an insufferable breatuber. But I am guessing only her liberal half followed her and others joined thanks to the algorythm.

This has to be the most insulting thing for her. The fact that her most popular years could be best described as being a gender bent diversity hire based on a more popular character. At best she is Supergirl to Doug's Superman. And then it is like the corporate overlords tried to use her for some difference audience crap where you completely retcon the character in personality and role, and like always that never works. Except this was a progression of her own personal business decisions. And that's funny.

Really, Lindsey is not that different from all other Channel Awesome people. They all just copied and leeched on Doug’s success. She is not an exception.

The only thing that made Lindsey stand from her fellow leeches is that she lucked out and found some success being a woke grifter “essayist“ during the early stages of the culture war. That’s it. Not to mention her “essays“ were just her re-hashing her nostalgia chick bits, except without any humor and a lot more bitching about the patriarchy or whatever.

Lindsay sincerely believed complaining about movies made for children was just a stepping stone for her sucess in Holywood.

Ideally Lindsay thought she’d peak by being a critic for New York Magazine or some other elite rag. It is apparent that she wanted nothing more than to be accepted by legacy media, even as her content was supplanting it. That way she can prove that she’s not a drunken southern bumpkin who is best known for having hot dogs thrown at her.

I believe she fully realizes that’s not going to happen now and is a big reason why she decided to have kids. The fact that there are many successful mothers who are authors, critics, etc. doesn’t seem to register to her but she’s always been very lazy. Fortunately she has simps to give her a six figure income for doing very little.

To be be fair to Lindsay she had a point. There was no need for her to just review girly things. Because Doug could've easily done it himself. She really lucked out Doug was scared of cooties or something. That's the only reason she has a carrer.

His explanation was because he didn't grow up with that stuff, he didn't think he could review it properly, so he wanted the Chick character to be someone who knew the girl stuff inside out and was seeing how well or badly it held up. The problem is Lindsay, by her own admission, wasn't really a girly girl growing up and aside from a few things, was more into Transformers and stuff like that. She only applied to make money, but wasn't really interested in being a female Doug.

I think had she just applied as a film reviewer and someone else gotten the Nostalgia Chick role, everything would have been fine. But I suspect they never just got her to give someone else the role while she went for general movies because she knew being the Chick got her more eyes and more ad revenue.

That’s a well thought diplomatic answer from Doug. But, to be honest, I am not sure if I buy it.

Remember his Sailor Moon review? That is one of his worst reviews. For various reason, but it all boils down to him being too scared to people thinking he enjoyed it. He was so embarrassed of having watched it, he only gave a very surface level analysis. I have a hunch he simply was too embarrassed to be one of those guys that liked girly things. Not that unreasonable to be honest considering what bronies end up being later on.

I don’t think classic girly animated movies were that deep to warrant having another person to specialize on them. And that nobody cares that much. Judging by him reviewing the Barbie movie, I think he has realized that too at least.
