Pretty sure review bombing until Valve responds is what the current movement is trying to do. Several of the 2tubers declared the protest would go on until Valve did something. Some even encouraged people not to buy stuff from the steam store or community market (I think it was Dewill, but I'm not sure).
I wouldn't count on these people to uphold the word of these YouTubers. They'll still be good sheep and buy from the store regardless.

I'll never forgive valve for listening to the tf2 youtubers and nerfing the fucking BASE jumper to the point of unusability just because they couldn't hit someone who was air strafing with it using a crocket. Bitch use the SHOTGUN OR AIRBLAST IT'S RIGHT THERE!
Also literally every other fun weapon that's now just dead "kills you when you use it and has weaker attack speed"
It was comp trannies that did this actually

LOL, it's now mostly negative, this is the worst it's ever been at.

i honestly don't understand, why do people care so much about a game that's been practically dead for about a dozen years now? the last time this game had new players was before Overwatch's reveal trailer and the subsequent porn was released
why should I have to tolerate bots in my game
soy dane the molester main and the reddit brigade are fags but valve letting tf2 be overrun by bot accounts while still advertising this game as functioning and charging for items is nonsesical

im rather surprised to see the sheer amount of resistance to doing anything about it. imagine cucking to bot hosters because "ermmm the game is ded, sweetie, doing anything to bring attention to it is LE BAD"

I enjoy the game, even if it is dead. I paid for it, I have the right to play it until I drop dead.
If Valve still treats it like a product (which they are), they should keep it updated.

Because compared to modern Triple-A slop, tf2 is fun. It's the only multiplayer shooter right now where I could play casually without adhering to the meta and without getting scolded and kicked by compfags. And despite all the ass rape that Valve and the botters have done and continue to do to this game, it's still enjoyable.

It's not surprising to see fans wanting to keep this game alive, a lot have invested time and money in it, and a lot have just recently discovered it.

My issue is with how they go about it. A petition won't do shit. Not giving Valve money until they unfuck the game is the only real "fix" but we all know that won't happen

Call me doom pilled TF2 is fucked

I love TF2, it’s a fun game. My only issue to this movement is their way of going about it. Signing petitions doesn’t do shit, and telling people not to do anything because “game dead” doesn’t do anything either. You actually gotta do something other than these two things.

The radical and correct move is to petition Valve to release the source code so that fans can fix it on their own. If we leave aside the intractable problem that the MTX model alone would disincentivise any such move from Valve, it is the solution that lets Valve put in the most minimum of effort, and lets the fanbase finally do the needful.

You may rate me optimistic, but I truly want something good to come out of this despite my immense pessimism for this game. But the bar for my expecations is on the floor right now. I do agree with giving the game to the people, it seems only logical.

until you realize how much of a disaster it would be on the main game, the only people that would make use of it are the same people that had already access to the source code of this game and leaked it two or three times in a row because of some petty discord drama.

someone can tell me i'm a retarded nigger ape for talking out of my ass, and i think it would give cheaters the ammo they want to fuck this game up even harder if the source code of the 64bit version of this game gets released, there's no winning move in this context.

if you mean forks, then while there's a fair amount of them (and nearly all of them are developed by 41%ers), i'll go with the biggest ones that are called team fortress 2 classic/open fortress, and as already mentioned they're a disaster on the simple basis of being developed and having their main servers hosted by knockout trannies that don't even know how to play the game/s the forks take inspiration from.

edit:
in tf2c the sniper is in his unchanged glory, 25 shots, vanilla reload speed, ability to quickscope, a shitty dot that needs a wall to work, and there's a lack of tools that suppresses him, (dh + mini crits, guilliotine, scorch shot/detonator, medic xbow).
only "nerf" he has is the presence of a classic-esque tracer, and that's it.

for open fortress there's the railgun, the balancing factor of it was that you couldn't one-tap healthy and armored players with it, but in this fork there's headshots that triple the damage of it (80/240), add the fact that there's no armor to make use of (only overheal), 150 max hp and it's a gg.

The community cannot be trusted to make decent hats, I would never trust them with the source code. Any solution to TF2's issues has to come from valve, which I don't expect but in that situation I prefer valve's apathy to handing over the reigns to the troons in the emporium.
