Heartbreaking video shows terrified autistic teen, 19, being goaded, stripped naked and restrained by NINE cops while begging them to 'listen to me' -

(Article, archive
Disturbing footage shows a terrified autistic 19-year-old desperately asking cops to listen to him before he repeatedly slammed his head on a cell door and died.

Isaiah Trammell, was taunted, belittled and threatened by nine guards as he begged for his medication at the Montgomery County Jail in Ohio. He was taken there after he was arrested following a mental health episode in March, 2023.

After fatally-injuring himself, he was taken to a hospital where he later died.

In surveillance videos obtained by The Columbus Dispatch, officers are seen telling Trammell he was 'ridiculous,' 'embarrassing' and 'acting like an a**.'

He was strapped into a restraint chair twice and threatened a third time with severe consequences if he did not calm down.

But Trammell responded to the threats by banging his head on the cell door and screaming: 'Let me out'

No-one listened as Trammell asked for his medications, a phone call and a blanket, according to the Dispatch.

Trammell was then rushed to hospital where he died three days later, with the coroner ruling it was suicide.

Trammell had been taken to jail after neighbors called police because he'd spent the night banging his head into a wall at his home.

He told officers banging his head on the wall was: 'The only way I know to get rid of the crazy in my head'.

Officers booked Trammell when they discovered he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor domestic violence warrant. He had allegedly been abusive to his sister and her husband.

Trammell's heartbroken mother Brandy Abner told The Columbus Patch that Trammel had a history of banging his head as a coping mechanism which often saw him end up in hospital.

She had not been aware of the outstanding warrant against her son.

'We always call when he begins to rage - it's a mental health call, not an "arrest me" call,' she said.

The 19-year-old told officers he suffered from ADHD and did not want to live.

Trammell was put on suicide watch, meaning he was trip-searched and isolated in a safe cell.

However, according to the Dispatch, he wasn't given a mattress, blanket or a suicide-resistant gown.

'He hated his body to be exposed and he kept telling them. He hated to be confined. Absolutely that would trigger him,' his mother said.

Officers allegedly kept him on the restraint chair for more than an hour, which is against Ohio standards for restraints.

The cops also continued to threaten to put Trammell into the chair a third time. The chair is supposed to be a last resort and used after providing medication.

When one officer said they couldn't use the restraint chair, another cop replied: 'Just put the chair in front of his fu***** cell so he stops. Give him a constant reminder.'

The Montgomery County Jail Coalition has called on the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) to investigate Trammell's death.

'Isaiah would be alive today had he been treated with dignity and respect in the jail by staff concerned for his health and well-being. Instead of listening to his cries for medication he was laughed at and ignored. We need accountability for what happened to him,' said Yvonne Currington, retired nurse and Jail Coalition member.

The Sheriff's office told Dayton Daily News on Monday that ODRC's Bureau of Detention found no 'deficiencies' in how the sheriff's office handled his death.

'Medical and mental health providers at the jail provided treatment to Trammell from the time he was booked into jail until he was transported to a local hospital,' said the sheriff’s office spokeswoman Christine Bevins.

'Although people facing charges for violent crimes shouldn’t be released to society to deal with, our community needs a medical facility with a lockdown unit that can better handle those who are in crisis.'

Here's my questions: Why didn't the parents bring his medication to the police station, and speak to the proper people about getting it to him?(Not that it seemed to do him any good) Also, why didn't the parents have prescribing doctor contact the jail, explaining "Yes, x needs x amount x times daily"? While the parents blame the police for the parents' failures, I blame the parents. Kid was obviously a danger to society, and needed to be put away for his own safety, and that of others.

Ah so he was not arrested for the mental health episode he was arrested for being violent and you lied.

Oh also pretty sure those were not cops pretty sure those were corrections officers so you lied again.

Also I did not catch the corrections officers laughing at him can someone point to where that happens as is being claimed?
this is just another case of women rushing in to defend a violent lunatic that would happily tard out and beat them mercilessly without a second thought. they always fall for carefully edited videos crafted by defense lawyers looking for a quick buck

Alot of Republicans jerk themselves over how great Reagan was, but one of the biggest flaws of his administration was de-funding mental health institutions and research.
copying and pasting my post from a while ago in the US Politics thread:

i hate to keep sperging on this but Reagan did not close the asylums. John F Kennedy started the process with the 1963 Community Mental Health Act, which began the process of replacing asylums with community mental health centers. as the federal government promises to foot the bill for warehoused nutjobs, states start to cut funding to expensive psychiatric centers

a second strike comes when medicare and medicaid are created in 1965 under Lyndon B Johnson. "Mentally disabled people living in the community are eligible for benefits but those in psychiatric hospitals are excluded. By encouraging patients to be discharged, state legislators could shift the cost of care for mentally ill patients to the federal government." states are further incentivized to defund state-run hospitals

in 1981 Reagan is elected and cuts federal funding for these community mental health centers, putting the bill back on the states. these mental health centers shut down

how are these defunded community mental health centers different than psychiatric hospitals? they had very little inpatient facilities and were meant to be a hub that the mentally ill could go to for support and then go back to...somewhere? they were not meant as a direct replacement for psych hospitals. they were the "send a social worker instead of the police" of the 1960s. their entire purpose was to have as many previously contained crazies out on the street as possible

this was also compounded by antipsychotic drugs being discovered in the mid-1950s and being considered a miracle cure for mental health issues, especially the "big ones" like schizophrenia. think back to the numerous articles of schizos you've seen in the news, the ones where they cut their parent's head off. you know what you always hear? "off their medication." it turns out even when crazy people have pills to stop them being crazy, without containment and supervision they can just stop taking them. and they often do

in the timeline above, yes, Reagan did sign a California bill to prevent forced institutionalizations, contributing to the homeless problem you see today. but with the civil rights movement and anti-asylum sentiment (One Flew Over A Cuckoo's Nest was published in 1962, btw) asylums were on their way out

they were just never replaced with anything. like the CMHA article mentions 90% of state hospital beds have disappeared since 1963 and never come back

edit: here's a handy graph to help illustrate the above

You got any good tard tales to share?
Tons, but it's hard to relate them online because it's way funnier in context, doesn't translate well and I don't want to self-dox. I worked with a kid years ago who was basically the kid in the OP and he made these sounds that sounded like Honda VTEC when he got stressed out.

My favorite was this tiny middle schooler who was nonverbal but was super good at using his communication device and he'd find creative ways to shit on his classmates like saying "Fox Off" or "I Want Do Mom" while pointing at the individual who pissed him off.

At most, the cops were negligent but if they were following procedure, then the prodecures are wrong, not the cops imo.

Verbal shorthand. No, the individuals cops out of their depth aren't culpable like an actual shrink or doc would be. Yes, the procedures are petty much retarded.

Don't bother arguing with these people. Psychopathy is a common character trait here on this corner of the Farms and asking them to show basic empathy is something their Cluster B-inflicted autismo brains can't handle. They probably see the behavior of the police officers in the video and it tickles that sadistic sweet spot.

That's the thing about the Farms. The farms loves to go after bad people, unless it's an authority, in which case a big subset of farmers end up siding with the authority, unless it committed a specific crime or moral slight that makes them bad.

Kinda shitty, but it's a good reminder that many people are complete shit.

Is it really that uncommon to get your meds in jail? Kayla Rekieta would have gotten her pills if she hadn't been stashing illegal drugs in the same bottle with them.

If you have a prescription you get them. I'm pretty sure jails don't want to kill people with, say, diabetes or heart conditions, and I'm quite sure the judges and DAs really, really don't want to lose cases because of people nearly dying due to being denied meds.

It's shocking how often you hear about diabetics dying in jail cause the cops don't believe they are diabetic. Not as common as it used to be, but it was a thing for a long time.

This is probably one of the more severe examples, but I couldn't imagine trying to control a hyperviolent adult, especially one that could easily bench press me:

Do you really love your child if you're not tire-flipping, rope-whipping and kettlebelling to outpace your ogre son in strength to guide his warrior-path?

Some of you are arguing in bad faith or didn't read the article. He was bashing his head against his wall at home *all night* and that's why his neighbors called the pigs. They didn't cause the head bashing.

I agree they handled it poorly, but their acting like assholes didn't cause the freakout.

I would like to know more about the medications. Did he take them at home? If yes, why didn't they help? If he didn't take them, why not? If he didn't have an active prescription there was nothing the cops could do in that moment so that's not on them, it's on his guardians for not keeping up with his fucking meds.

black violent felon dies of a fent overdose and the country explodes because of a coincidental knee placement

white tard is tormented by cops into killing himself in jail and you all think it's based

you all deserve what you get, you are why the country is lost

It's actually super common among the mega-autistic. Not people with just autism but autism+other shit I used to see it all the time when I was a tardwrangler it's like 0-60 with them. Sucks that he died but by 19 the family should be able to handle that shit a little better than just calling the cops. Shitty homes is 90% of that EBD stuff.

* I've taught middle and high school SPED
* I've taught SPED in therapeutic school
* I've tard wrangled as a para
* I am a case manager for losers and some SPEDs.

Now that that's out of the way, my fucking sympathy bone is NON existent. In Hambutt's words: EVERY--BUTTY... EVERY--BUTTY is aUtIstIc. They're also muh ADD/ADHD.
It is WAY OVER DIAGNOSED
WAY OVER SELF DIAGNOSED
and used way TOO OFTEN as an EXCUSE to act shitty and never get better.

And there is a DISTURBING over abundance of virtue signalers who BUST ASS online to condemn corrections officers, teachers, doctors, case managers, etc. while simultaneously NEVER doing this work theirselves, or only doing it, for like...a WEEK. With a minder to help them.

YOU work in the clink.
YOU put up with the excuses and garbage behavior/manipulation.
Watch the line blur QUICKLY.
And, YES, SOME--TIMES a so-called legitimate case falls through the cracks.
And that happens more and more when EVERY--BUTTY is now aUtIsTiC and SpEcIaL nEeDs, or nEedS aN IeP.

Team CO's. Hope the recorded his screams for the lulz.

Think of it as America's version of MAID; with the nation's defining values of complacency, complicity, and maximized suffering emphasized. The silver lining is retards killing themselves for no reason.

BRUUUUHHH 😭 OHIO MENTIONED 🗿 ONLY IN OHIO 🤓 BLUD TARD RAGED HIMSELF TO DEATH BRUUUUUHHHHH 🤩🥹🥲🤪🥴 NEVER MESS WITH OHIO 👏🏿🫦🤒🤕🤧🤠☝️☠️💦🔫
Retards living and dying like retards will never stop being hilarious, all the ACAB types in here are fags who cry over somebody who's not too far from Chris-Chan. Fuck you and fuck your tards, lmao.

Hi guys! I haz mental illness and nuerodivergent. You have to let me do what I want.
Exactly.
Sorry this dude died but corrections officials are not here to coddle violent lunatics no matter how you cut the footage or play up mom crying.
Yep. Crocodile tears have the opposite effect on me.
show basic empathy
Empathy is not a virtue, and I wouldn't waste it on him anyway. He was clearly on par with that giant nigger who tried to beat a teacher to death for taking away his Nintendo Switch; coddling these monsters never results in better behaviour from them. To the contrary, in fact.

I'd also really like to know what exactly the medication was. Was it something that was supposed to calm him down, taken as-needed? Was it some sort of maintenance medication he had to take regularly? Were they given the meds by the parents? What was the timeline involved?

If it was something like an antipsychotic, those are HEAVILY controlled; a police station sure as shit isn't going to have them just lying around, and it'd be a huge liability giving them to him without knowing a ton of details. When did he last have his medication, to prevent overdosing on it? Has he taken anything else that could interfere dangerously with it? Is he high af on something else, given that hes screaming and banging his head on a wall? Does it have to be taken with anything?

It sounds like the cops were total assholes too, totally, but I absolutely agree they couldn't just pop pills into this guy and were probably having to work around a lot of regulations and rules as well (not just keeping him in the restraint chair the whole time even if it would keep him from banging his face on the wall, splitting the difference between 'is it better to restrain/manhandle him to keep him from self-harming versus giving him space and privacy when he's actively self harming and expressed suicidal intent', probably rules about isolating him from family considering he had a domestic violence warrant against family, paperwork to get him to the hospital, etc).

Everyone sucks here. Cops, autistic, family.

Isaiah Trammell, was taunted, belittled and threatened by nine guards as he begged for his medication
Sorry but once you go into custody, you can no longer take the medication you have with you. The only medication you can take is the one you are given through whatever medical professional they have there.

He was strapped into a restraint chair twice
Should have kept him strapped in.

and a blanket
How about some hot chocolate too?

Officers booked Trammell when they discovered he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor domestic violence warrant.
Sounds like a lawful arrest and detention. Unless you want wanted domestic abusers to be immune from arrest based on the I'm autistic excuse.

Edit...
He was denied a blanket as one can hang themselves unless that blanket is designed not to.
