A 23-year-old woman who was mauled to death by a dog in southwest Ireland appears to have been the owner of an XL bully.

The woman, who was named locally as Nicole Morey, was killed on Tuesday evening at a house in Ballyneety, County Limerick, at around 11.40pm.

Her body has been taken to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem. Irish broadcaster RTE said the dog involved in the attack was understood to be an XL bully.

According to her social media, Ms Morey was the loving owner of what appears to be an XL bully.

In one video on TikTok, she is seen dancing with a dog in a kitchen.

The video is covered by a male voice saying: "This is my son and I don't give a f*** if you think he looks aggressive and I don't give a f***if you don't like the look of him and I surely don't give a f*** whether you think the breed should be banned."

Another chilling video appearing to show her as the owner of several dogs is captioned: "But if one of us dies - I hope I die first." The video ends with a caption reading: "Love my family."

In another post, she describes herself as a "dogmom" and is seen handing treats to two dogs.

Ms Morey was treated by paramedics but died at the scene on Tuesday, Garda (Irish police) said. One dog was put down while three others were seized.

There are several restricted breeds in Ireland, including German shepherds, rottweilers and various bull terriers, as well as some crosses.

Restricted dogs must be kept collared with their owner's information on a tag, muzzled in public and on a short, strong lead with someone over the age of 16 who is able to control them.

I'll be fair, there are people who act like there should be some mass pitbull extermination and that's wrong. I think the breed should be allowed to die off and then gradually be diluted via mutts. This isn't unprecedented, the Ojos Azules cat breed was nipped in the bud due to concerns that the mutation that caused their distinct blue eyes was the source of birth defects.

As to hated vs distrust of pitbulls, well, they're animals, they don't know better and are doing what they were bred to do, which is fight. I think distrusting them is fine, but hating them is a bit much. They didn't choose their unfortunate lot in life. Actually torturing or killing them for simply being pitbulls is psychotic behavior and definitely parallels the monkey torture people.

Plus, the intention of my post was less "one drop rule" and more that shelters will be dodgy about what a dog actually is because they know a lot of people get touchy when pitbulls are involved. Yes, it's possible the mixed breed really is mixed and will make for fine pet, it's also possibly it's overwhelming pit and will eat your toddler.

Of course animal owners are responsible for their animals. But animals aren't blank slates. They have instincts and temperament that has been bred into them. Part of being responsible is not choosing to own an animal that has a track record of being more dangerous than others of its kind, especially not as a companion animal.

I think the reason there are a lot of pits around is because they're the type to be turned over to lots of shelters because they're a problem. So the crowd that has fully bought into adopt don't shop have majority pits and pit mixes to choose from. But pits have a reputation and pitmommies developed a personality around this.

Just cook it longer.
The tougher pieces of meat becomes the best stews and such as long as it's given sufficient time of course. Like pulled beef/pork.

Horse is not particularly tough meat compared to beef. Some parts are of course, but that's no different to say, brisket from a cow, which need several hours cooking on low temperature for a delicious result.

Yeah it was probably the most comically freakishly agonizing way I've seen a dog die, except for maybe using a lit M80 for a chew toy (for a few seconds). Everytime you thought it was finally over, the thing keeps bashing it's skull on the street like a broken wind-up toy. According to the body cams, that thing was still rolling after 9 minutes plus who knows how long it took to actually get it to the vet. It should be the standard execution technique for all "friendly ' shitpuppers and owners should be made to watch.

I know it's not their fault they were born and bred to be murder machines, but the fact remains that is what they are. Torturing or tormenting them to death is evil and I don't condone it, but balls or not, it's still a murder machine and is still a significant danger to people and other animals. Euthanasia would still be the only "safe" and realistic option. If we had some magic farm full of enough staff to take care of millions of pitbulls as they peacefully maul each other into extinction, that would be one thing, but we don't have that. It also doesn't help that they're so overbred that they're damn near an invasive species at this point.
