They're just streamers. Some people probably like the vtuber aspect of it specifically as it offers more anime aspects, but many people just enjoy the streamer's personality. For the streamers the big benefit is anonymity while still having some form of character on screen to represent them.

The Pippa clips weren't as bad as I've heard they were. Granted, it's the kind of thing that you really shouldn't bring up ever because it's such a vile and uncomfortable discussion to have (talking about what the appropriate course of action is towards pedophilia and people who are pedophiles but don't offend). I also saw a lot of people in the Kick chat trying to guilt by association Metokur and I can't tell if it was serious or not, but that felt extremely gay and forced. The easiest course of action for the Vtubers is just cut out anything sexual about their avis to avoid that quagmire. I haven't seen much about the Kirsche girl beyond the clip played today, but she is vocal in supporting the forum.

As someone who once tried to read Lolita (option of reading five books in a college literature class and doing a long essay on a one of them in lieu of a final), it’s a fucking slog. It’s supposed to be ironic, but it’s just boring. The main character is an unreliable narrator, but it’s about a French born Swede-Anglo with arrested development trying to molest his step-daughter who later becomes a Jew pornographers side piece.
I stopped reading it and eventually read Moby Dick that wasn’t edited down to exclude the whaling exposition (like every other page in Moby Dick is an explanation of whaling and sailing… I actually enjoyed that) instead. Much better experience.
