While I don't believe this theory myself, the "with who" answer implies they thought that far ahead if they "won". Building leverage and threatening someone with it can just as easily be used to extract concessions and favors, as long as they believe you'll follow through on the threat. The old heads have been in power so long they very well might have lost sight of that half of the equation, assuming of course they could always follow through.

Like I said, I don't believe it, but its a theory.

Former President Donald Trump reportedly admitted to possessing a gun in Florida during his pre-sentencing interview Monday—another potential felony that has the potential to violate the terms of his release. The admission comes just weeks after he was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Trump told officials that of the three weapons listed on his New York City concealed carry permit, one is believed to be back in Florida. Two of the three were already handed over to police in March last year, but the third, Trump claims, was “was lawfully moved to Florida,” according to CNN. It is a federal offense to possess a firearm or ammunition as a convicted felon. Palm Beach police told CNN that no such gun had been turned in since Trump’s felony conviction while an official in New York, “briefed on the probation investigation,” told CNN that the outstanding gun “will be referred to local authorities in Florida to take whatever steps are necessary.” Reps for Trump did not respond when questioned by CNN. The outlet, citing New York City Police, said Trump’s concealed carry license, which has been suspended since his 2023 arrest, will now be revoked.

I don't get why everyone is so confuzzled about Hunter's guilty verdict. They have his sentencing hearing after the election so;

1. If Biden wins he pardons Hunter cuz who cares now he can't do a 3rd term and his polls don't matter anymore

or

2. Trump wins and Biden still pardons Hunter before he leaves office cuz Biden's polls don't matter no more.

A Hunter guilty verdict was always a slam dunk because in the long run everyone knows he won't serve 1 millisecond of jail time either way.

Defendants who are found guilty in Delaware federal court are typically sentenced within 120 days of their conviction. That would place it no later than about a month before the Nov. 5 U.S. presidential election.

Yup, between the useless meetings, the frantic cross-atlantic flights by Dr. Jill and the general quietness surrounding the case and it's outcome, the message is loud and clear. "We are ones in power, not you, 'doctor', and this is just a taste of what's waiting for your family if you don't comply."

The ideal deep state hit wouldn't be against someone who would become a martyr their enemies could carry around as a bloody flag, but someone they could do the same with. Someone whose death would create an enormous chimpout, and allow them to just silence any dissent from the Republicans while they go full police state. It'd be someone like Oprah, gunned down by a crazy right wing lunatic screaming "This is MAGA country!" There would be no stopping the electoral juggernaut at that point, since everyone standing in the way would be steamrolled. Would it destroy Tucker, DeSantis or Trump just the same? Yes, and more effectively, because it'd turn them indefensible.

Of course, while they are malicious enough to try something like that, they may not be competent enough to do it well enough to hide their tracks.
