KR Denmark recalls Korean ramen for being too spicy - The noodles don't appear to have been recalled before in any other country, nor have there been other safety warnings issued.

Denmark has recalled several spicy ramen noodle products by South Korean company Samyang, claiming that the capsaicin levels in them could poison consumers.

Three fiery flavours of the Samyang instant ramen line are being withdrawn: Buldak 3x Spicy & Hot Chicken, 2x Spicy & Hot Chicken and Hot Chicken Stew.

Denmark's food agency issued the recall and warning on Tuesday, urging consumers to abandon the product.

But the maker Samyang says there's no problem with the quality of the food.

"We understand that the Danish food authority recalled the products, not because of a problem in their quality but because they were too spicy," the firm said in a statement to the BBC.

"The products are being exported globally. But this is the first time they have been recalled for the above reason."

It's unknown if any specific incidents in Denmark had prompted authorities there to take action.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration said it had assessed the levels of capsaicin in a single packet to be "so high that they pose a risk of the consumer developing acute poisoning".

"If you have the products, you should discard them or return them to the store where they were purchased," it said in a statement.

It also emphasised the warning for children, for whom extremely spicy food can cause harm.

The notice has sparked heated discussion online with many amused reactions from lovers of spicy food. Many have made assertions about the Danes' low tolerance for spice.

"I had a friend from Denmark who thought tasteless breaded shrimp with a little bit of ground pepper on it was too spicy. Not surprised they think this ramen is poison," read one top-liked comment on a Reddit ramen forum.

Samyang said it planned to "closely look into the local regulations" in Denmark and respond after that.

The noodles don't appear to have been recalled before in any other country, nor have there been other safety warnings issued.

Capsaicin is the chemical compound in chilli peppers which creates the burning feeling.

When humans eat peppers, the capsaicin is released into saliva and binds on to receptors in the mouth.

Samyang is a major South Korean food manufacturer which brands itself as the first company in the country to create instant noodles, back in the 1960s.

Posts ghost pepper sauce, says about little spice...
Your breath must feel like a literal pepper spray.
I wonder though, how many painful toilet visits you had to endure before your anus got numb.
It's not really that hot tbh. I've had hotter but this one has good flavor behind it. Also because the taste is so much stronger than the more mild hot sauces like jalapeno or habanero, you don't need as much and your digestive system is better at handling it

When you say taste do you mean spiciness or flavor?

I've never seen anyone so ass-blasted (quite literally from the sound of it) over spicy food before.

Not everyone has an anus made out of tissue paper, you know. If you use your anus for output only as intended, spicy food should not bother you.
My sentiment is that excessively spicy food and excessive use of hot sauce is the same as niggers throwing piles of lawry's seasoning.
Interesting enough you act about spices just like niggers when they are told they use too much salt.

That's the thing, what you call "excessively spicy" is what the vast majority of the world calls normal. In fact over a billion jeets will consider it rather mild. You're in the minority here. Buldak x3 did not get banned anywhere except in one autistic craphole.

Just like how niggers are in the minority when they dump half a shaker of Lawry's on some chicken, the vast majority of humans on this planet find it disgusting.

Honestly, it depends on what the reason the Danes had for banning it, as you'd think they'd go after those retarded 3,000,000-scoville "SATAN DEATH RAPE MADNESS HOT-SAUCE" products that soyboys are obsessed with for some reason, rather than some relatively run-of-the-mill instant ramen. Wouldn't be surprised if it was because a couple batches got contaminated with a much higher level of capsaicin than usual, like the countless other products that get recalled for being contaminated with industrial chemicals or heavy metals.
That being said, if you're the sort of person who'd fucking die from eating some spicy goyslop, that's just natural selection.

When your body goes like you're under strong medication with long snots hanging out of your nose, that's not normal at all.
This man ate buldak 3x.

If I'd read this article as a kid these would have been the coolest noodles in the world and my only mission in life would be to get my hands on those noodles so I could trick my friends into eating them. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the point.

It should come with a warning label in fairness, it is not a snack it's a novelty product.

No, the packaging clearly indicates it is meant to be eaten like any food. It is not a novelty product.

Also, the product in question is approximately 1/2 the hotness of both the tabasco pepper and the cayenne pepper, as well as 1/20th the hotness of the both the habanero chili and the scotch bonnet pepper which are all common, naturally occurring, non-hybridized peppers.

There is nothing interesting nor special about this food product. The Danish people do appear to be complete pussies.

Yes, some people can't tolerate average spicy food. Just like some people can't tolerate any form of dairy, or nuts, or shrimp. They lost the genetic lottery, sorry bros.

I know someone who can't tolerate Sriracha, it's way too spicy for him. Doesn't mean everyone is a pussy.

It was a originally a limited edition thing developed because videos of mukbangers reacting to the regular spicy version went viral in Korea, the Korean name is something like nuclear fire noodles. It is not something someone would pick up as a typical snack.

I've only had the normal spicy one that's hotter than tabasco (pretty tasty though) SHU scale is bullshit
