Both are wrecks, but the latter one killed less people, was salvageable, and far more embarrassing. Hell, Aaron and Schettino even share a few traits. Also, the Concordia wasn’t a beautiful, admirable ship; the Lawpope - once the poster child for wholesome Internet and family success - certainly did, and still does, think he’s unsinkable.

These aren’t people who just “love sex.” In fact many of them grow to hate sex because it dominates their entire lives and they can think of nothing else.

Substance and process addictions (like sex, gambling, shopping, bulimia, anorexia, hoarding, etc.) are very intertwined for many if not most addicts. This is especially true when a specific substance significantly enhances the process, e.g. molly or meth and sex.

Some of these people can’t even get off without being on drugs, and as the addiction gets progressively worse they can lose their ability to get erect or lubricated. Hearing about Nick’s ED did not surprise me at all, especially with all the alcohol in the mix.

According to Nick himself, Kayla was upset when she caught him using porn. Yet we also know that before long she was joining in on the sleaze, since she did it right on stream. It’s not some Kayla-guarding move to guess that something or someone influenced her attitude.

I don’t have the clip but if you watch Kayla crying on Nick’s show, watch his face as she’s having a breakdown about what a failure of a wife and mother she is. Far from looking concerned, he has a half-smile on his face and seems to be on the brink of laughing. It’s almost as if he can see how easy it’s going to be to get her on board with whatever more extreme shit he can make her believe it takes to be a “good wife” to him.

That’s when he started going all-in on making sex and “relationships” a big theme of his show — which he knew full well she was watching.

It’s not a major leap to posit that Nick capitalized on Kayla’s mental and emotional fragility — as well as her fear of being abandoned by the man she’d put her body, mind and spirit through hell to give five living children and three who never made it — to help progress their shared degeneracy to a new level.
