I'm still of draft age, but I'm old enough to avoid the first round. If it gets down to me after worming its way through the zoomers, I'll simply tell the draft officer "I will shoot my CO the moment I am given a loaded firearm." And, if they still take me, I'll fucking do it. You only need a few incidents like that before the whole schebang falls apart.

If they start drafting people, no amount of "recruiting sergeants HATE this ONE SIMPLE TRICK to not take the King's Shilling!" will make them not take you. You're getting put in the van, with shit in your pants and sieg heiling on 10 tabs of LSD no matter what.

I have to laugh at the people who think they'll have armed police in the streets dragging draftees in. If they do by a slim chance have a draft it will be as simple as you'll get a letter telling you to show up and if you don't you'll find all your bank accounts and credit cards closed, you'll be fired, and won't be able to get a new job. They'll simply use legal methods to remove you from society until you comply.
A draft is almost definitely not going to happen though, Congress as been wanting to modernize selective service for years. I can still remember when they were going to make women sign up few years ago and they all freaked the fuck out and you had feminists writing articles about "not this kind of equality".

I'm not going to PL, so i'll skirt it instead. LSD flashbacks last for 75 years, according to certain countries military. They cannot, and the last I checked, will not, risk an acid flashback while a grunt is armed, driving a tank, flying a plane or even in the mess-hall.
Maybe, if they get desperate enough, they will draft anyone and everyone ala Ukraine. Until that point, LSD will push you to the back of the queue behind the downies and retards. That buys you enough time to build a strong concie defence and you're golden.

I would presume that if they are drafting people with a likelihood of a LSD flashback, they don't believe that person will live long enough for that to be an issue - in the case of an existential threat to the nation where soldiers die weeks after being recruited. I don't see that happening to America, as the nation will lose the ability to wage war and keep the citizens complying long before that

As far as avoiding a draft, the second I told the recruiter I had chronic kidney infections, he just hung up on me. It was sort of rude, actually. He literally just sighed and slammed the phone down. I guess having to piss every 30 minutes for weeks on end isn't something they want in a desert war soldier, lol. Not really helpful even for a desk job role.
At this point, I expect Biden to come down with bird flu the day before the debate, and they'll use that to either cancel it outright or shorten it to half an hour, just long enough for his meds to keep him lucid.
Considering that Presidents usually do awful in their first debate, and there's almost a certainty that Biden won't do two debates, it's pretty obvious they'll find some excuse to not debate Trump even once. I'm sure they wanted to pull the whole "I won't give a felon the attention he wants" thing, but that whole felony conviction has so backfired you have Dems talking about how he should be pardoned to avoid more damage.

I agree although it's as simple as all that. Politicians like to get elected and corporations want to get them elected; if there's serious pushback that threatens that they'll rethink a draft. After 20 years of war I don't think there's much support for a draft. Not only will a great many of the young men who are the Selective Service's target not willingly submit but their spouses, parents and other family members will also be resistant.
I am not sure even another event on the scale of 9-11 would result in the same level of patriotism/volunteerism. While people have very short memories enough veterans are around to remind them what happened when we went to war on false pretenses and flimsy/faked evidence. And polling would reflect that.

Most will deploy then dessert or do a really shitty job on purpose if not outright intentionally Sabatoge the operation. Just like Vietnam except they can buy a burner phone and dissappear much easier 50 years on.

Option A:
Spend 4+ years dodging bullets, drones, missile strikes in Iran, forced to take untested vaccine against Chinese bioweapon that destroys your health and testicles, lose arm to IED, immediately abandoned to rot in the gutter by own Government, receive shitty treatment from VA, nearly die from infection from DEI hire nurse who doesn't change needles. Actually die from self-inflicted shotgun blast to the roof of the mouth after years of drug abuse to deal with PTSD and homelessness. Hometown forgets to put your name on their war memorial that nobody visits.
Option B:
Refuse draft, eventually get sentenced to years in prison as non-violent offender, surrounded by convicts who committed ID theft and Medicare fraud. Get released early due to overcrowding and Chinese bioweapon outbreak. Run for Congress on claim of being former political prisoner, win high paying government job for life after defeating veteran opponent. Fuck pornstars and own five mansions, die at 90 thanks to Congressional health insurance.
But hey, you might get gay raped in prison, which never happens in war or army barracks.

My take is that Trump is being smart or at least has gotten very good advice. He was already President once, and all his campaigning has locked in all the votes he will get from the normal groups a GOP candidate goes for. What he is doing now is spreading out his influence, letting people outside that normal group see him.
This election, if taken without consideration for honking, has some facts that need to be kept in mind.
First: The Democrat voting base is made up of several blocs which all at best have unaligned interests and at worst have outright conflicting interest. Many of the latter have come to head now (See, Israel conflict) and many of the former have now brought novel issues (See, Hispanic religious practices). This means the Biden administration has to focus an inordinate amount of time on maintaining their voting base.
Second: The GOP has fractured. Past tense. The lines were set in 2020. You have the GOPe and the Populists. Minds were made up, lines drawn.
So, Trump looked at the second and realized he had two options. Either try to bow down to the GOPe and regain a lot of their support. Or, tell them to go fuck themselves, and stage a hostile takeover. Trump of course chose the latter. SO that brings us to.
Third: The populists have almost completely taken over on the voter level. The GOPe remains but its almost entirely just remaining as its politicians. None of whom are in a strong position beyond their existing incumbency. Their influence over their own voters is practically none. So Trump has locked down the GOP as a party.
Fourth: The current crop of candidates completely lopsidedly is eating from the Democrat's voting base.
So now we have the first and third interacting. The Biden Administration is focused on securing his base... but Trump has already secured his. Meaning Trump doesn't need to actually campaign to keep his voters, only to sustain enthusiasm. Freeing up a lot of time to start working at vulnerable groups. The libertarians are one of his current focuses. As they make up the only real group from the fourth fact which votes right leaning. And the Libertarian party has practically handed those votes to Trump with their choice for candidate and practically turned their party into just another spoiler for Biden. Trump is currently in the process of solidifying that support as he actually wants to gain their votes and not simply helping to drop off votes.
As we enter into August I expect a lot more branching out attacks aimed at voting blocs which are particularly vulnerable to the Biden Admin, with the goal there being not to really gain Trump votes but to just put more stress on the Biden Admin's efforts. Any gains will be minimal but it will prevent any solidifying and more or less mean attacks on Trump are just wasted effort.
