In media when a person does a deal with a devil it almost always turn out to be a trap where the guy never enjoys his wish due to some hidden implication in it. But would a demon actually do it? He has all eternity to torture your soul afterwards, you'd think it would be better to let the guy enjoy his wish so others might be tempted to do the same.

No, they are very legalistic and will always uphold their side of whatever they are offering. It is worth more than anything else in existence to demons to get someone to give their will and soul to them freely. They're happy to give you what they promised because the reward for them is worth more than even their own existence.

Permanently separating a soul from God is their greatest victory.

Well yeah, their demons, their all evil and shit.
They have no obligation to be fair with their deals and will always try to find a loophole into fucking with you or taking your soul.

Its a battle of contextualization.

You try to make a wish that in no way shape or form the devil can "accidently" misinterpret, while the devil will try to find a loophole in your words.

Watch the Wishmaster series, their very fucking bad and cheesy movies but they are a fun way of exploring the concept.

Well said. And expanding on this: they are motivated by envy and spite. The destruction of human souls is the closest thing they can do to get back at God. If they can't overthrow God, the next best thing they can do is destroy His little effigies.

Some theologians even speculate that God's decision to create Man was the impetus for Lucifer's rebellion. Being an angel, Lucifer is a being of pure intellect; he considers the material world beneath him. He despises the idea that a physical being could have divine sonship.

The Devil doesn't actually like any of the things he uses to destroy men's souls. Food, sex, power, wealth, etc. He hates these things. He only seeks to trick men into putting them over God, using them like a spiked drink. He cannot create, only taint and vandalize.

They feed off of negative emotions, fear and hatred especially. That second one is very strong right now with what is going on in our world, I know I have fallen into it and had to fight off those thoughts and desire for vengeance.

This is also why every single time in the Bible when an angel loyal to God manifests to a person the first thing he does is reassure them not to be afraid. Christ does the same after the Resurrection in the locked room.

The Screwtape Letters is one of the most brilliant pieces of black comedy ever written. Like when he's telling Wormwood to make the human think everyone around him is being annoying on purpose. I struggle with that one these days.

I joined my HOA's board last year so I have experienced that a lot. :story:

One thing I will say is your chances of directly encountering the demonic are very low unless you really fall into some serious sins or actively seek them out. They can't actually know your thoughts, only God has that power, but they can see what you are doing and read emotions and body language perfectly so they'll know immediately if whatever they are doing is working unless you are very vigilant.

Showing a lot of interest in them, for good or bad reasons, draws their attention too. I try to avoid reading too much about them or their nature at any one time for that reason. Their names themselves have no specific power, they have been stripped of it once they rebelled against God. I just wouldn't mention them in most cases because they listen when you call them by name.

The media tends to portray it ineptly or deliberately false. It divorces the evil from the agent and the offer. All that tee hee humorous media with cartoon demons and funny Satan, or fantasy with Good demons? THAT was the danger of D&D, BADD were right all along.

What's torture for the soul in the afterlife is also torture for the soul IRL. You made a deal, you're fucked. The nature of the deal is what fucks it up, and the nature of the deal is inextricably linked to what you're making it with.

An IRL demon is not going to offer you "$100M in exchange for your soul later lolololol", this is stupid, plus in this scenario you don't actually do anything bad: you can take the money, use it for charitable causes (note I don't say "donate to charity"), and go to heaven. You resisted the temptation! In fact, giving free money no strings attached is what demons do sometimes, to see you spiral balldo style.

Instead, it's going to offer you "$100M but you have to kill your unborn baby" -- that, if you're sufficiently virtuous to need proper "tempting", worse people kill their babies for far less. And then the happy customer is going to hell, s/he might not make the connection but s/he is, and will OD in a dirty bathroom during a coke orgy and the janny will only find the body in two days when it starts to smell.
And other potential customers won't make the connection either, they will eulogize it on Instagram as a "beautiful soul, gone too soon".

There's a troon chaser atheist pajeet, Hemant Mehta, who wrote the book I Sold My Soul on Ebay. (He actually didn't.) It's how the media portrays deals concerning souls. But people don't sell their souls on ebay, they sell their souls on Telegram through drug distributors and porcine terrorists.

Do you know why the medallion is cursed? It really is! I'm not joking. Think, then click the spoiler.
People for whom the medallion means something, increases their popularity even, who'd put it on on-stream, are terminally online in a particular way, living their should-be-private lives in the open to gain approval from a specific deranged "community", chasing e-clout. This is a sin (usually the whole set: pride lust greed sloth gluttony envy wrath), and they are predictably on a bullet train to hell.

Also keep in mind that demons can't create anything, so money or anything else physical they provide you was stolen from somewhere or someone else. They'll make sure whatever they give you is as tainted with sin and corruption as possible.

A short answer:
Not only are there a lot of people that simply don't get to pay the toll in their life time for such dealings, it's already tempting enough as it is for people, even if there is a catch, they take the risk. Many people also secretly want torment in their life time and, depending on the wish, the wish can have, by it's very nature, the seedlings of torment within it, growing to a full bloom in time. People do often have self-destructiv impulses after all.
Demos ain't real tho and those "deals" are pretty much just people that decide to throw out their fears and morals to achieve a goal.

The very long answer, going into the nature of the "devil/demons" and their "deals":

The devil or demos are fake, they aren't their own separate beings outside of the human mind and there are no "incorporeal entities" out there (in the context of this life or rather in this current state of consciousness, but this would be a massive tangent I will not go into)

I saw a bunch of people that were "demon possessed" when I was staying in an eastern european monastery that were looking for healing there and nothing worked like ever.
As fun as it would be to water board a sperg screaming in demonic tongues with holywater and make him recite the jesus prayer by force in an incense filled holy-site for hours, it would do nothing. Shit ain't real, demons are a figment of your imagination.
Yes there are rare cases of "possessed" or rather mentally ill people that got "healed" by becoming a monk or something, but it's always just the pure exercising of will in regards of ignoring intrusive thoughts or hallucinations that those people still see/hear on a daily basis. If it's not an extreme case of "possession" (read mental illness) religion can help comfort a person to deal with their delusion by overwriting it with a more healthy delusion, but more often then not, it can backfire, hard.

The closest thing to Demos is this:
You know that one Carl Gustav Jung Faggot and his concept of the "inner shadow", it being ones fear, immorality, lowest desires etc... He does have a good point there...

In my opinion "demos" are "inner shadow" manifesting as a kind of being.
You can interact with them within a dream, while tripping on a high dose of a psychedelic substance like shrooms, LSD, DMT etc... or while having an instable mental state caused by all kinds of stuff, including certain rituals. You can listen to such "demon beings" and get fucked over hard of course if you just obey their commands like a retard.
It's all going on in your own mind after all and chances are your deepest, darkest self expression is a very dump, degenerate, crime based on low impulse-control.
If you have such interactions on a regular basis, you can get used to it and face such nightmares / horrifying visons, "transcending" the fear and disgust it brings, similar to a person that consumes tons of horror flicks or gore content and goes numb to horrifying images.

So yeah, if a person actively seeks out "demon beings" long enough, he will become (sub)consciously numb to his fears and even morality, functionally becoming a sociopath. This can of course open paths to all kinds of (impure) wishes and a person can really achieve great results when he drops all his morals and fears, listening to the "demon" that helps him in pursuit of a wish. It's pretty much the opposite of "Theosis" but becoming more "demon",- rather then "god"-like as a person. Along the way the person is pretty much bound up to become more deranged and might fuck up at some point in a multitute of different ways, falling from a high point to a low one.
But hey, some get away with it and are now like in the government for example.
One can only hope that hell is real ^^.

3 side notes:
1: The point of animal torture / sacrifice, messed up sexual rituals and the active involvement in certain well paying crime of certain cults is the before mentioned going numb to fears and immorality, only through a more visceral method.

2: I mentioned Theosis and yes, it's worth it to look up. Avoid mentioning that term around ortho larpers, you will hear some autistic rants that may be even worse than this amateur post.

3: The "screwtape letters" by C.S. Lewis are a fun read but you really shouldn't take his writing seriously. He is peddling in basic apologetics with little depth and more often then not no basis in scripture. Please don't do the "Demons don't want you to think they aren't real" bit

Schizo post over.

I'm sorry but this is patently false as the whole point of becoming a monastic is about killing your ego, which is the source of the willpower that you're referencing here. You worked at a monastery so you should at least be aware that monastics do not do anything without the blessing of their Spiritual Father or Abbot. If you were talking about the replacing of ego with the Holy Spirit and acting in accordance with the divine will, then sure, but mischaracterizing possessions as mental illness when even the Church recognizes there's a concrete difference between a possessed man and a Schizophrenic is just short-sighted.

On the topic of Theosis, how can you become a God or a Demon through Theosis if neither of them exist? I'm not going to sperg out about Theosis itself because it's an extremely difficult concept to properly explain and I can't even hope of accomplish that, but the core tenets rely on Demons and God both being real, as Theosis loosely means to become 'as God', which implies that God is real, which follows that Demons must also be real. Consistency in stance is important when you're talking about subjects like this.
