Very good question, thank you. The current consensus is that this substance around the mouth is actually vomit. While these creatures love kiwis, the fermented kiwis are there true goal. Unfortunately the intoxicating effects are too much at times, and the creature must let out a "spew" for hours at a time (sometimes on camera, for some reason).
