A gay person says he won’t live in China because they’re homophobic, only to be told by a Wumao that Taiwan is bad because of foot binding:

That is just an out and out lie, The RoC/KMT were against footbinding and in Taiwan footbindings were outlawed by the Japanese during their rule and haven't seen a resurgence when the KMT took over. A lot of shit went down during the white terror period, but forced footbindings ain't it.

127 brake horsepower.

Sure can’t do much more than 55 mph but it can still cream cyclists. Oh, it also takes roughly the length of Rhode island to stop.

Because that totally worked every other time it's been tried as a 'Gentlemans Agreement' to prevent horsepower wars and head off regulation.

There's a reason Skyline's, Supra's, and whatnot were only sold with '260hp', yet easily can have more than that, almost it's as if they were designed to make upgrading really easy post sale or something.

You can tell none of these urbanists look into any of their solutions too deeply lol.

Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) tweeted about a solution to the housing crisis:

Predictably, this caused urbanists to crawl out of the woodwork but because Sen. Vance’s followers are in the thread, they’re getting a lot of pushback:

Not the lack of replies to most of the anti-urbanist tweets. They really don‘t like interacting with people outside of the cult.
They act like zoning is the issue to housing. It's a three pronged problem. 1. Too many illegals that then drive up costs, but they get away with it since they bunk 20 to a apartment. 2. Land is finite. Zoning isn't the problem. Land and geography is. Not all of it is usable. 3. Materials cost money and it takes a lot of time to build a house or apartment, hense the cost.

Well one of the main reasons why cars have gotten bigger is all the saftey features that they now require. The Fiat 500 of yesteryear might be quite a tiny car but I wouldn't imagine it being terribly safe in a collision. Not to mention a 1/3 of all road fatalities are with static objects
You know another way of describing that? Road diets! Freeways are designed for cars to go fast and minimize fatalities, and they do it by having barriers and such that prevent the car from leaving the road, which is a lot less fatal than hitting a parked car or a bollard.

But urbanists want roads to be made literally more dangerous to make drivers drive slower. It's what a road diet is all about. Significant modern safety features they fight against because it could help cars go faster. Separation of traffic types (car/bike/pedestrian) is a huge safety improvement but it also allows cars to go faster when there are no bikes or people to worry about.

Look we just need more cars sliding on black ice into crowds of cyclists to prove my point. If I can't be accelerationist about making my pipedream come true, then what's the point of being angry all day? Kill more people to make me happy.

I'm not sure why I can't quote Xarpho's Return's post directly but, just looking at that image, those new housing projects on the easements do not look like they're drawn to the same scale as everything else. It's like a housing development for half-scale people. And BonesJones already mentioned that just the traffic alone from living next to a 24/7 McDonald's drive-through would be annoying but that drawing helpfully shows a garbage enclosure at the back of the McDonald's. Those things stink to the extent that anyone living on the drive-through side of that half-scale building would not want to be opening their windows in summer.
Another thing I don't think they realize is that those dumpsters are almost always positioned on the far end of the parking lot, as far away from the restaurant as possible. You can't put a garbage enclosure in that position because:
a.) it would stink to high hell, like you said, and nobody wants to smell rotten food while they're eating;
b.) you have to have room for the waste management trucks to pick up the dumpster, and you can't do that if it's in the middle of the drive-thru;
c.) you definitely can't do that if the drive-thru menu is obstructing the dumpster;
d.) putting it right behind the drive-thru menu is insanity, if a customer opens their window to order food and gets hit with the stench of literal garbage emanating from the McDonald's, they're going to lose their appetite and order less or not at all.

The bugmen don't care. Their cities already smell like shit and piss. Shouldn't the carbrains share in the experience of sardine packing? They honestly don't get that sometimes it's more efficient to be less efficient with your space.

Poster on /r/fuckcars making something up? Must be a day that ends in "y".

Also, here's another one--not even churches are safe from wonky half-scale buildings! (You can tell this guy is a heathen and a huckster, those churches get packed out on Sundays and special events).

He's playing tricks with the scale. Those houses are tiny; smaller than the "luxury 4 bedroom" shoeboxes we get on new-build housing estates over here.

All he's doing is showing that parking lots could be used for something else.

Well, fuck me sideways and call be Shirley, because holy shit someone discovered this before!

Wait this is impossible! You can't have a building on top of cars! That's illegal!

1718904894347.png
It's simply can't be that density and cars work together, cars have to be parked on the ground with sky above, per the ancient laws and LARGE DOGS.
1718904973722.png
It simple cannot and does not exist, if there isn't density, it's because of evil cars, not because it's a financial boondoggle to try to updensity something when the area doesn't need or support it.

I wonder how much of an inferiority complex Jason has. Alan, my negro, my euro compact car has 90 HP and comfortably goes 100 mph for extended periods of time. Fuel efficiency tanks, of course, and has a range maximum around 75 mph, but you don't need a lot of horsepower to go reasonably fast.

It's literally just a roundabout instead of an intersection. Usually the road intersection is built before the businesses, so most of the time there isn't room to change it into a roundabout. Also roundabouts are terrible at controlling traffic when you high traffic, since there can be zero gaps to let people in from side streets while the main streets never stop flowing. It's just more Euroboo bullshit.

Also it's entirely bullshit that you can't retrofit roundabouts into America, it's been done and will be done and has been pretty well received in many areas.

There are advantages to stop lights but a roundabout is usually better than a four-way stop.

Road Guy Rob sperged about it recently (notice that he does research and interviews and holy shit he gets his own footage and doesn't cry like a little bitch): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZUZA76L09M

(amusingly enough, it can be hell to retrofit a roundabout in urop where there hasn't always been one, because of historic buildings and shit that can't be touched).

oh fuck oh shit a new RGR dropped about fat roads

All the ones around me have been low traffic 4 way stops that improve flow dramatically, since everyone is yielding instead of stopping at worse. They also put protected right turns to keep unnecessary traffic off the roundabout itself.
