Prior to a year or even two years ago, it was very subtle to the untrained eye.

His casual demeanor and his speech peppered with “or whatever” and I “guess” sentence enders, suggests that he’s a very low maintenance low expectation kind of guy.

Gestures like repeatedly stressing to viewers: “please don’t donate to me if you can’t afford to” was something that even won favor from me in the early days. I can’t think of another streamer aside from Good Lawgic who went out of their way to regularly communicate that.

Also, while the Kino Casino repeats the claim that Nick celebrated and grifted over the misfortune of others, it seems like a reach of not flatly incorrect. In watching his trial coverage and even post-trial coverage myself, he came off as more unemotional and impartial compared to his counterparts. I don’t recall him openly delighting in anyone’s downfall prior to a year ago.

Perhaps this was the malignant addition to the narcissism (which he openly admitted to), in which he cannot allow himself to be seen as needy, and perhaps the cool detached act that he put up was too exhausting for him to maintain once he’d “won” enough in life to earn him respect in the eyes of JuJu and his own dad.

This is the one thing that I have trouble reconciling: “What was real?” Though, I suspect it is the same question survivors of malignant narcissists ask themselves all the time.

While I too have repeated the common Libertarian sentiment (and I believe) that the US government is incompetence to the core, and cannot do anything in a timely or fully correct manner, I don't think they would look at all the evidence that's been presented so far, and come to the conclusion that the kids going back to that house is the appropriate decision.

It would take a miracle in the form of legal arguments and weaselly language, in my opinion, to get everything thrown out and have the kids returned to him. I think that's when we'd be able to assume this department is run by actual monkeys.

If there's one thing we can take away from Nick's decline, is that luck is no longer on his side like it is on DSP's side. He's losing this battle, and all control. He's currently flailing around.

There's also the fact that Nick blatantly, obviously, screamingly does not want his kids back. He's finally getting to live the Dax fantasy of living in Chateau de Balldo with his side piece until August hits. I’ve done a few posts since and I’m 99% Nick’s parents have the kids and Nick would have let his kids go to rando foster care providers before he would provide Kayla’s family as “relatives” that could provide kinship care.

I think Nick and Kayla have been estranged from her family for quite awhile and he views them as an enemy camp.

I can't even imagine. I am a father of one kid and I'm in my early 30s, so far from retirement age.... And if suddenly I was caring for 5 kids, it would be extremely difficult even for me. And then to imagine doing that after I finished raising my own kids and was ready to sit back and enjoy retirement. Of course you'd have to do it, because I can't imagine letting my theoretical grandkids be put into the foster care system, which in some cases could be just as bad if not worse than having coked up parents who don't give a fuck, but damn... it's a rough situation.

This isn't so cut and try. The Foster Care system is hell, and CPS knows this. Given ANY possible option, CPS' goal is reuniting kids with their parents. All they demand is a case plan. I.e., CPS will be digging through your trash and crawling up your ass to insure you are doing what they want. Which in this case would be no drugs, no guns, random drug testing, and random home inspections to insure its clean.

Parents who are actually serious about "doing better" will reflexively agree to the plan. The Court will also take compliance with CPS demands into consideration in dealing with charges of child endangerment and wat not. The case could even be plead out to a lesser, or convicted with the parole terms being compliance with the Case Plan. Unironically when it comes to CPS complaints and Juvenile court hearings, the opposite advice is in play. It is far better to just admit to things. Even if CPS is exaggerating or outright lying. Unless you can definitely show you didn't do the thing, you will lose. Because the issue before the court is not YOU. Its your kids. Which means certain constitutional provisions like the presumption of innocence are not operative. In a CPS initiated juvenile court proceeding, you are presumed guilty and if you dare to argue otherwise you are both brave and foolish. So you had better bring the receipts.

Something I don't think Rekieta has. Which means they will take the kids away because as much as CPS hates handing kids over to Foster Parents, they won't return them to recalcitrant biological parents. I would imagine at an intellectual level Rekieta knows this. But his brain is still trying to figure out how to beat the Criminal Charges against him, and admitting to the CPS charges will by course be used against him.

So the kids will not be returned, so long as the Criminal Prosecution is in progress. Once that is over, I expect (hope) Rekieta will then come to terms to CPS. Since he has it in his head right now to fight the criminal charges, he can't by necessity comply with CPS demands.
