I believe Nick has a very poor capacity for theory of mind. He does not think the audience has the ability to notice his rhetorical and factual inconsistencies, nor does he think deeply about the impact his actions have on those around him.
In regards to the audience, he thinks that they should only remember the last thing he said, and becomes quickly frustrated when prior speech or actions are brought up to counter his current point. The frustration is that now he also has to address this new point, and not because he is proven wrong. Despite his stance on a subject changing in the long run, he is unable to change his position in the moment, as his position is determined by proximate need, rather than logic. This could be a good quality in a lawyer advocating for their client, but, ironically, there is little to show he has ever made use of this trait in that regard. Even in the event that a lawyer was able to leverage this trait professionally, it would not behoove them to carry it over into their personal life.
As far as an inability to foresee the consequences his actions may have on those around him, while it is easy to dismiss this as the usual behavior of a hedonist, many have pointed out that they had substance-abusing parents who acted with more regard for their children than Nick. This is where his rampant narcissism become obvious, as he sees his intimate relations as extensions of himself, rather than as other people with minds and emotions of their own. Here is where his potential to unapologetically neglect and abuse his wife and children comes from, and, I think, why the hypothesis that he was dosing his 8 year-old with cocaine to treat her for ADHD is very likely. This deep-seated narcissism is why he can never better himself, as he is unable to admit any failing, and so he continues to find new lows at every turn.
The lack of a developed theory of mind has been made more obvious by his polysubstance abuse. If he had stuck with just whiskey, he may have been able to continue as an alcoholic asshole with a streaming career, but, with the additional abuse of illicit substances, he has descended past the lowest pits of lolcowdom to the point where many who are familiar with his streaming career and this thread actively wish the worst upon him.
I hope he suffers a great deal after he is found guilty. He may suicide prior to a verdict being handed down if the trial does not go well as a means of maintaining control like the craven piece of shit he is.

This is probably the most well-rounded analysis of Nick I've seen. All of his habits in isolation could've been managed by a better man. There are plenty of respectful hedonists, alcohol enjoyers, executives who do coke on weekends who we never hear about because they understand how to effectively segment their lives. Had Nick possessed some self-control and care for others he could've had it all too. There was nothing stopping him from dumping his kids with the grandparents every now and then and having a fun, sex and drug-fuelled weekend away from the house to cool off, nothing except his narcissistic belief that he knew best, that his needs came before everything else. While he possesses an ability to mimic the characters of others (an ability that is degrading by the day, but nonetheless) he's never shown a capacity to understand why social norms exist and why others follow them. Even now, intervention by his community and government are framed as impositions on HIM, he doesn't seem to grasp the objective circumstance in which they've arisen. He believes that a narrative that plausibly explains the situation will clear his name because he can't seem to conceptualise the existence of facts independent of his narrative.

Back here in reality though, in the larger context, COOPERATING with CPS is basically a de-facto requirement to get the kids back. If you are uncooperative, for example not allowing them in the room where all the drugs were found, then no you are not likely to be on the road to get your kids back.

If his excuse is he doesn't want to give evidence to the gubment, then he should sign the bodycam footage release form. The government already has it and the only thing it can do now is prove his innocence to the public, which he claims is just as important as the actual court verdict, if not more.
Unless, of course it actually proves his guilt...
