I think Pippa was the the one who talked at length about no one has really figured out how to make male vtubing work yet. When it finally breaks through, the content and format is probably ultimately going to look pretty different than the current cute girls doing cute things model.
@X-avier cuck I feel bad for the male V-tubers tho tbh. They didn’t do anything wrong. It’s not their fault internet losers are faggots.

You know, it’s interesting. Niji actually did a pretty good job creating a male talent group. They were so successful, they ended up ticking off a lot of the Holo tribalists. Lux really changed the game in how they promoted their talents, but because everyone now despises Nijisaji as a company, nobody wants to get involved with them anymore.

Now, let’s talk about the Stars. These guys were thrown into a company that spent years pandering to a female-centric idol fanbase. So when they showed up, it was seen as an unnecessary shake-up to the status quo.

To make matters worse, there was this kind of unspoken segregation between the male and female talents for the longest time. This had its ups and downs. On the plus side, the Stars built their own brand and attracted new demographics. But, the downside? Their fans and the fans of the female talents often ended up clashing over different ideals—political or otherwise.

For a while, things were looking promising. Generation 1 of Tempus was featured in some interesting crossovers, and Kronii was sort of an unofficial fifth member. But then, the whales got to her. You know, those big spenders with lots of influence. She fell back in line with her peers, except maybe Bae.

But here’s the bright spot: Justice and The Stars have a history together. If they can start normalizing interactions between both branches, it could set a precedent for future generations. Maybe, just maybe, this will help smooth things out and bring some much-needed unity.

I think it's going to happen one way or the other as cover expands things starts adding people who just aren't intact with the pre-established culture

Well I think something to specify there is I think Niji did a good job with male talent. In Japan.

Kanae and Kuzuha are big names among JP vtubers and found a good foothold to grow their fanbase to where they stand at or above their female coworkers.

In EN though it's less of this and more "they were for a time supported by Chinese yumejo who have since fucked off and now left even the EN boys with a shell of their former power and reach" The company being viewed as toxic nowadays post-selen is a separate matter it caused a lot of the general EN support to fall out, but the larger Chinese market that was skyrocketing the boys prior to that had been crumbling long before the Selen incident, you can go through someone like Vox's viewership over time and see it was deteriorating over time for like a solid year beforehand.

This one I only really see pushed by /vt/ schizos normally who try to push some narrative that their headcanon savior Dmitri Jap finally shut down the big evil omegatroon and taught people like Kronii and Mori a lesson. (you see spinoffs of this forced meme narrative in their weird shitpost angle "Mori/Kronii are so feminized now They do GFE Now")

Reality is really a lot more simple than that. Kronii and Mori made friends primarily with 2 members of the stars. Vesper and Magnii, interactions with Axel and Regis were a lot more sparse and neither of them seemed to really "click" with them the way they did with the other two in their SALT collabs. Once the two that they mostly hung out with left the company, the collabs stopped. They both still showed up in Axel's Holloween cover months after the fact and Mori's done 3d appearances with both Aruran and Rikka at the start of this year. But I really think it's just no deeper than "The people they liked hanging out with are gone so that's where it ended"

I really don't care if a Vtuber is male or female, I'm not under some parasocial delusion that they'll fuck me one day.

If I find them funny or entertaining, I'll watch them. That's all there is to it.
Listen you may have given up on your dreams but I know someday my oshi will spot me random chatter 4946# fall madly in love with me based on my witty username "ballsdeep69", buy a plane ticket and show up to my doorstep unannounced on which day I will file a restraining order what a psycho.

I don't really hate the male VTubers, I'm just not really interested in watching another guy talk about random shit. For male content creators, I'm more interested in watching Professionals (eSports, trade jobs, medicine, law), and Stand Up Comics, which none of the male VTubers are (as far as I'm aware).

I agree with both of the above, but it's such a tough situation because as the company expands that basically means we're heading towards 2010s anime fandom territory which is both good and bad depending on how you look at it.

For all the idiot unicorns out there, I only have to point to the Kronii Vesper help booth stream, or the Bae Vesper Boomer vs Zoomer stream as an example of "This shit is fucking hilarious and would never happen in your weird little world".
I am excited for the doll. She seems like a very funny girl;

Rabbit, Fox, Hamster and Bear are attempting to get out of hell
Shit like this is why I love Tenma, she's the perfect idol. Angry, incomprehensible accent, zero interest in coomer/GFE stuff but still secretly a sweetheart.
Witch in turn makes her, for lack of better words, "authentic" and "genuine" than most of the other girls in this clique. She cares deeply about her community, but isn't afraid to show real emotion and knows exactly to keep them at a certain distance. Even when it came a little close to the GFE with the Maemi Thirst event she somehow made it not GFE esque and being supportive of everyone's body type ( though she WAS horny for a few of the guys ). She's perfect.

Regarding the Male\Stars hate, it's actually kinda goes deep.

So, Vtubing. Think of it as the lovechild of Japanese idol culture and anime. Now, both of these have historically catered to lonely guys. Everywhere these things go, it’s the lonely dudes they’re trying to appeal to. And because liking idols or anime wasn’t exactly mainstream, the fans ended up being kind of ostracized, and pushed into their own little corners of society.

Now, some of these folks, they don’t have any stable relationships outside of what they consume. Then 2020 hits, and we’re all locked down, making things even worse. Add in the Tumblr crowd from the 2010s who suddenly got into anime, and you’ve got quite the mess.

Vtubers, they roll up all the aspects of anime into one neat package. These talents are essentially role-playing as anime stereotypes, encouraging waifu culture, simping, and, let’s be honest, spending way too much money.

When you throw a guy into this mix, it breaks the illusion for some people. It’s like, "Wait a minute, reality check!" For others, it’s about keeping that pure, untouched vibe of Cute Girls Doing Cute Things, like in K-On. They don’t want guys messing up their fantasy world.

All around nasty work based on mental illness.
For every delusional male fan who dreams his princess will one day notice his supas, there is a potential female fan willing to do the same for the right performer. Male vtubers are, in theory at least, a winning strategy.

With that said, I was surprised when Hololive announced a male idol branch (at the time I wasn't into vtubing so I didn't know Niji was a thing). There was a similar incident in the video game series Idol Master (where you produce idols minus having them sleep around for jobs) where the developers introduced a male idol unit with their own separate game and the fanbase went completely apeshit, because just the notion of a non-faceless mob even existing in their idol world was enough to trigger unicorns. It seems Niji avoided this issue altogether because they debuted a male talent in their first wave.

I think it can work. Just have an all-male vtuber corpo with no girls allowed (and for the love of God no underage sexual grooming). To my knowledge, a corpo specifically tailored for that purpose doesn't seem to exist as of now.

I have no doubt it can work, just look at Vesper/Randon. When he was in Holo he was the star of the gen (in my opinion at least) and he's still doing well since he went back to being an indie. It's just about finding the right people for it.

I don't think the whole Korean/Jap thing of pretty boys will work in the west.
