The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they will step back as "senior" royals and work to become financially independent.

In a statement, Prince Harry and Meghan also said they plan to split their time between the UK and North America.

The BBC understands no other royal - including the Queen or Prince William - was consulted before the statement and Buckingham Palace is "disappointed".

Senior royals are understood to be "hurt" by the announcement.

In their unexpected statement on Wednesday, also posted on their Instagram page, the couple said they made the decision "after many months of reflection and internal discussions".

"We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."

They said they plan to balance their time between the UK and North America while "continuing to honour our duty to the Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages".

"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity."

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said discussions with the duke and duchess on their decision to step back were "at an early stage", adding: "We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."

The couple's announcement on Wednesday comes two months after the Duke of York withdrew from public life after a BBC interview about his ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who killed himself in August.

Anyone else think her facial droop even looks better? I've never been on board with the Bell's Palsy theories, and I have no inkling why, but I have definitely noticed a facial asymmetry that. . . doesn't appear to be there any longer? I really wonder what all was going on medically and am glad to see her honestly looking quite healthy in the midst of all this.

The rouge is a bit much, though.

Receipts and citations needed.
Gonna be honest man, I don't actually care that much about this. It was a casual observation and I don't give a single American poo about the royals in general. But anyway, here's a photo from like last year where you can see that her eye on the left side has an eyelid droop and her smile is asymmetrical.

I didn't link any of the multitude of "Kate's Facial Paralysis!" Videos on YouTube because I agree it's dumb to call that paralysis. I have no idea what it was/is, and again I don't really care overall.

Truly didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition. When I hopped on here in the past to discuss a possible poop bag on m'lady's torso people were talking Bell's Palsy so I know I didn't just dream this.

Maybe a droop is too much, but she's had pronounced facial asymmetry for a while. I'm not the only one who noticed - like I said, lots of people were speculating she had Bell's Palsy. Anyway, she looks better now.
Makes sense since that usually goes away. I'm not sure if it's true though.

Oh come on! Look at her new, tight jaw line. She’s had a fucking facelift, I always thought the wording of her cancer announcement was sus, “cancer was found”, “preventative chemo”. I’m not one of those nutters who think she’s had reconstructive surgery because Willy pummeled her at Christmas, but she’s had work done (who can blame her really, she’s probably the most photographed woman in the world and was looking haggard last year and it explains the swollen face in the car photo with her mum)

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan’s real moneymaker for ARO is going to be her own wine. Just like a mid-2000s Real Housewives cast member! I hope someone does a taste test of Meg’s rosé versus Ramona‘s Pinot Grigio, Cynthia Bailey’s Moscato, Vicki’s Vodka, etc.

If true, this is hilarious. Does this dumb bitch realize wine doesn’t come from orchards?

Putting her "brand" on random merchandise to cash in on her notoriety?

Sort of reminds me of a certain New York City pro wrestling impresario and TV reality show host who got his start in his dad's real estate biz.

He was real big for a while. Maybe you remember him. :)

Their estate, the Chateau of Riven Rock, is actually fairly small by luxury dwelling standards;
Montecito-Miscellany-A-26_43_WEB.jpgharry-and-megs-montecito-home-chateau-of-riven-rock-v0-50056lxf695b1.jpg
It was originally the 84 acre estate of Riven Rock, owned by the McCormick family (gilded age millionaires). One of the McCormicks developed schizophrenia and was confined to the estate from the age of 31 until his death in 1947, aged 72. His wife had tried to make the estate a healing place, including planting a 9 acre lemon orchard.

However, after his death, she sold the estate on and it was divided into 34 parcels. This chateau is on a 7.4 acre parcel and does not appear to contain any part of the lemon orchard whatsoever. It's also not where Harry & Meghan filmed their Netflix shows, which were actually shot at 888 Lilac Drive, a nearby house that was up for sale at the time and valued at twice the price of their chateau. The chateau is apparently plagued with bad smells from the nearby Andrée Clark Bird Refuge (a salt marsh that keeps getting algal blooms that stink of rotten eggs) and also the Farmlane cannabis farm (which is causing the neighbourhood to stink of skunk), and may not be insured due to being in a high risk mudslide zone. There's rumours that the Windsors actually spend most of their time renting a spot in the nearby San Ysidro Ranch.

There's not really enough space to have any sort of agricultural business capable of producing large amounts of jams. Admittedly when you grow strawberries you grow a LOT of strawberries, so turning them into 20 jars of jam makes sense, but despite all the branding of "America Riviera Orchard" there's not really any space to make anything more than the stuff to stock a tiny seasonal farm shop (or one of those honesty boxes you see in the countryside) and there doesn't seem to be an actual orchard on her land. She's still yet to actually sell anything and a domain squatter has nabbed the shopify site for "American Riviera Orchard" to use as some sort of protest;

Meghan has to use "American Riviera" as her domain, despite the branding all being American Riviera Orchard. Her original goal was to have a lifestyle brand with custom linens and tableware and fancy pitchers but I guess that's proving to be too expensive, so she's opting for slapping her brand on a vineyard's wine.

I made jam this weekend. 1.5kg of strawbs got me a mere six 300ml jars. Darn good though.
Making it commercially you’d need an entire strawberry farm. We have a big strawberry patch and I still needed to add in a punnet from the local growers.
Wasn’t her previous blog thing profitable? She should have just carried on with that.

After Nacho posted his “limited edition” ARO raspberry jam to coincide with Kate attending Trooping the Colour, I saw several commentators say “At least the label isn’t peeling off of this one!” But it is:

Also, I’d never click on these kinds of videos but there’s ample proof that — just like on KF and other sites — some of the trolls are absolute lolcows themselves. Who believes this shit?

Harry has gotten an award from ESPN (most likely he bought it). It's the Pat Tillman award, and Pat Tillman's mom is not happy. I don't think she has anything to do with the award; it may be his widow who does that. There is speculation that he gets these awards as a way to get a visa but I thought he already had one.

The mother of US hero and former NFL player Pat Tillman slammed ESPN’s decision to honor Prince Harry with the award named after her son.

Mary Tillman said she was never consulted by the sports network to give the Duke of Sussex the Pat Tillman Award, which honors the late NFL safety-turned-Army Ranger who enlisted after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
“I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award,” Mary told the Daily Mail.

“There are recipients that are far more fitting,” she added. “There are individuals working in the veteran community that are doing tremendous things to assist veterans.”

The baffled mother also pointed out that Harry is already famous and has received plenty of awards in his life, so ESPN should have chosen someone else who’s never been in the spotlight.

The Pat Tillman Award has often been given to unsung heroes, with last year’s recipient being the Buffalo Bills training staff who revived a player who had suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of a game.

Mary’s condemnation was echoed by ESPN analysts Pat McAfee, who accused his own network on Friday of “trying to piss people off” for picking Prince Harry.

“It’s going to Prince Harry,” McAfee said on his talk show, “who I don’t even think is a Prince anymore, right? He said don’t call me that? See, why does the ESPYs do this s–t?

“This is like actually the most embarrassing thing I’ve seen in my entire life,” he added.

In picking The Duke of Sussex and others to receive honors during the upcoming ESPY Awards (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly), Kate Jackson, VP, Production at ESPN, touted the recipients as those who have changed the world.

“These honorees have used their platforms to change the world and make it more inclusive for marginalized and suffering communities, demonstrating incredible resilience, positivity and perseverance, and we’re thrilled to celebrate them at the 2024 ESPYs,” Jackson said.

Despite being marred in controversy over his royal life, Harry — who served the British military for 10 years, including two tours in Afghanistan as a helicopter pilot — has been lauded for his role in launching the Invictus Games.

The Games, created in 2014, serve as a multi-sport, Paralympic-styled games for wounded or injured servicemen and veterans.

“This one is for our entire service community,” Harry said after learning that he will receive the Pat Tillman Award.

The Pat Tillman Award was created in 2014 and has been given to a person who has served in ways that echoes the legacy of Tillman.

Tillman, a former safety for the Arizona Cardinals, served in Iraq and then Afghanistan before he was killed by friendly fire in 2004, with the soldier posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service.

Petition asking ESPN to reconsider is at 35,972 as I post this.

ESPN appears to double down on stupid and pledges to give Harry the award.

ESPN received some blowback for its decision to hand its annual Pat Tillman Award to Prince Harry at this year's ESPYs — including from Tillman's mother. But the company says it has the full support of the Tillman Foundation, which was founded by Tillman's widow, Marie Tillman Shenton.

"ESPN, with the support of the Tillman Foundation, is honoring Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, specifically for the work of The Invictus Games Foundation as it celebrates its 10th year promoting healing through the power of sport for military service members and veterans around the world," the network said in a statement.

"While we understand not everyone will agree with all honorees selected for any award, The Invictus Games Foundation does incredible work and ESPN believes this is a cause worth celebrating."

Tillman's mom, who reportedly has no ties to the foundation, was incredibly upset that the award bearing her son's name would go to such a "divisive" and "privileged" person.

"I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award," Tillman told the Daily Mail. "There are recipients that are far more fitting. There are individuals working in the veteran community that are doing tremendous things to assist veterans. These individuals do not have the money, resources, connections or privilege that Prince Harry has. I feel that those types of individuals should be recognized."

The Pat Tillman Award goes out every year to "a person with a strong connection to sports who has served others in a way that echoes the legacy of the former NFL player and U.S. Army Ranger, Pat Tillman."

Last year, the award was granted to the Buffalo Bills training staff that saved the life of Damar Hamlin.

Coming in late with my unasked for opinions!
I think Harry probably did put in a boundary but Meghan could have steamrollered it if she wanted to. She doesn't want to, because the kids are snow white and ginger, even more so than Harry from the last look of them.
I’ve always thought this must be part of it. She’s barely black to begin with, and race grifting with red headed Hyperborean offspring looks demented even to normies.
Sticking a phone in front of an infant is a great way to keep them from properly developing their eye muscles, resulting in that cross eyed thing both of M&H's kids seem to have going on.
Lots of babies are crosseyed. Besides, I doubt Harry and Meghan have to give their kids screens to keep them busy like working parents. I assume they’ve got professional Nannie’s who can’t get away with hours of screen time per day, but someone let me know if I’m wrong about that.
