From someone who feels they've been let down that the GOP control everything now said:
I am disgusted on so many levels. And not because my candidate didn't win; that would be being a sore loser. But because of who the other candidate is.
Half of America voted for a man who is, to put charitably, a real life troll. A man with no political experience. A man who has empowered hate groups (and make no mistake, hate crimes, both by civilians and police, WILL increase under Trump). A man who has no consistent viewpoints on anything. A man who was caught on tape bragging about being able to grope women because he's a celebrity. A man who said women should be punished for having abortions. A man who swindled tons of people, either through Trump University or by refusing to pay contractors. Whose vice president is a man that supports conversion therapy. A man who belittles/sues anyone who doesn't agree with him, and whom we're now handing the nuclear codes. A man- you know what? I'm not going to list every offense he's done. We'd be here all day.
With the GOP controlling virtually every part of Congress, including probably the Supreme Court, all the progress made under Obama will be obliterated. Obamacare? Gone. LBGT rights? Sayonara. A woman's right to choose? Don't make me laugh. Religion? If it's not Christianity, you're SOL. Those NSA reforms? Yeah, unconstitutional surveillance will be back in full force to save us from those scary Muslims. Police reform? Out the window. Climate change reform? According to the GOP, climate change doesn't even exist, so they'll further screw the planet to appease their gas gods.
But this is about more than who was elected. It's about the people who voted for him. Not all of his supporters were racist, xenophobic misogynists, but by voting for him, you indirectly said you're OK with those viewpoints, as long as it screws the Democrats. Which was an incredibly irresponsible thing to do, especially since the economy is (er, WAS) improving. And while I'm aware that some of his supporters did so for valid economic reasons (i.e. small towns that got hit hardest by the 2008 crash and haven't really recovered), you voted for the wrong person to help you. Trump's economic policy is going to crash and burn this country, and by extension, the world.
Oh yeah, and by electing a man who represents nationalism and isolationism, this is basically Brexit 2.0. And we see how well that worked out for the UK.
