To power level, I’ve had about 7 people in my life become junkies. Some were just friend of a friend, but the one that was pretty close was a neighbor returning to heavy drug use after his son died. Neighbor had his son get hit by a car. Bad situation all around, car that hit him swerved around a drunk driver that was speed checking him and drifting lanes. The kids head exploded. The kids mother was a stay-at-home mom, foreign, and not very bright. Dad completely abandons her to parties leaving her to raise the other kids.
She gets tries to help him, but eventually just cuts him off, asks around the community for a lawyer because he tried to fuck her over to get the house. Gets a job with someone in the community and takes online classes to get certified so she can get an higher paying job that will allow her to not hawk her kids on others, asks someone else to help with child care, and gets her kids through highschool.

She worked really hard, paid back everyone she could, and really tried to be active in her kids lives. A lot of that involved swallowing her pride and asking for help.

She is about as likely to break with Nick as Ian is to break with Anisa. The similarity being that Kayla and Ian both gain virtually nothing by being in a relationship with a narcissist, but they seem to prefer being treated poorly and have no moral values.
