I think it's fairly obvious what's going on. It's a way for otherwise uninteresting ordinary attention-seekers to force people to pay attention to them while also being able to ruin the lives of anyone who says anything even remotely critical about their attention-seeking bullshit.

Kind of a 'nobody cared who I was until I put on the Pride flag' sort of deal. If you're just some barista with a septum piercing and a liberal arts degree nobody cares, but if you're an enby barista with pronouns on your name tag now you're a minority and oppressed and everyone has to tell you how stunning and brave you are (or else).

It's a lot easier for gay men to tell pooners to fuck off. Even if they sorta pass or are the Buck Angel type, it just isn't threatening when you realize it's a woman. There's no looming sense of "This dood might assault me if I say the wrong thing".
I think it also might be a judicial thing. You see male troons in Canada, Germany, NZ (and more) turning to the law when they get rejected. Good example is that behemoth who forced his way into a female-only sorority. Pooners might just have a fit, post their experience on Reddit or X and move on. Even though there have been few pooner colonizers in male gay spaces, you rarely see stuff like the Giggle app or the (multiple) Canadian creeps who sue female-serving estheticians that won't take them.

I do hope more gay men wake up to the bullshit. It is completely hypocritical to exert gatekeeping while doing the trans rights shit. I see a lot more support to LGBs seceding from the TQs this year, but I feel like this cancer will take a long time to shake off.

Lesbians need to stand up for themselves. Nobody else can do it for you. Every single time a lesbian lets a man calling himself a 'transbian' into lesbian spaces--you need to say something. Gay men didn't send troons into your spaces. Gay men didn't get so caught up handmaidening that they redefined 'lesbian' to mean 'a non-man loving non-men'.

Encouraging pooners into gay male spaces doesn't help lesbians out, and it won't encourage gay men to be more sympathetic to your cause.

A semi theory I just came up with is that when "trans"-women were actually rare, especially the post op literally had surgery more or less because they were in love with a "straight" man who would love them as a woman, then such people were featured on documentaries about troons.

The Cinderella fantasy aside, in retrospect, its pretty obvious that these guys were chasers or just plain gay but so in the closet they had to do some serious mental gymnastics.

As for today though, it seems that this bullshit has seriously coloured the thinking of troons.
