CNN Presidential Debate 2024 - LIVE: THURSDAY 9PM EST

(L/A)

Millions of viewers are set to tune in to the first presidential debate of the 2024 election on June 27, a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
The first debate is hosted by CNN, while the second in September will be hosted by ABC. Viewers can watch the first debate live on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on CNN, CNN International, CNN en Español, and CNN Max. It will be available to stream without a cable login on CNN.com. It is expected to run for 90 minutes.

The network has said it will also provide a feed of its production to other networks and digital outlets, the LA Times reports, but will require competitors to adhere to a number of conditions—including adding the network’s on-screen logo and refraining from adding their own anchors and commentators during the breaks or any other portion of the broadcast.

Presidential debates are typically one of the most watched broadcasts of the year in the U.S. More than 73 million people watched the first presidential debate between Trump and Biden in September 2020.
Several new rules, which have already been approved by both candidates, will be introduced to prevent a repeat of the first presidential debate of the 2020 election, which largely veered off track. Microphones will be muted, and the candidates will meet on stage without a live audience for the first time.

The debate will also feature a pair of commercial breaks during the 90-minute broadcast, bucking a debate tradition in which advertisements were not permitted under the rules established by the non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates, which traditionally governs the debates.
“We’re going to look back at this debate and we'll see some good and some bad,” says Patrick Stewart, a political science professor at the University of Arkansas. “The good will be that the candidates can't game the system and turn it into a pro wrestling match. The bad part is we’ve commercialized the debates as opposed to serving the public good.”

I'm going to be tired from work to bother, so just throwing in a guess that Beau will get brought up for sympathy points, Trump is going to suspiciously look oranger, and Biden will not be allowed to wander from his podium lest his earpiece begins to act up from interference.

PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE PREVIEW

Cartoon Published 06/26/2024

The presidential debates have always been important milestones. They are key because they help voters—especially swing voters—decide who will lead our country.

Yet now these critical debates have become corrupted and slanted in favor of one party—the Democrats—along with our judicial system, security agencies, media, and the voting process itself. This will not be a fair and unbiased debate. It will be unfair and very biased, thanks to partisan anti-Trump CNN propagandists, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, who will parade as moderators.

This sham debate will conjure up more disgust than discussion. Joe Biden refused to consider debating unless he was allowed a huge advantage. Well, he got his way. Trump’s microphone will be turned off at the whim of a Trump-hating professional liar named Jake Tapper. Trump might end up debating Tapper more than Biden.

Biden will come out hopped up, juiced up, charged up, drugged up, angry and anxious to crush Trump, but can he sustain it for 90 minutes? He might be swinging after the bell at first, but will he have any punches left in later rounds? To make matters worse for Joe, there will be no teleprompter. We’ve all seen Trump routinely crank out speeches that last well over an hour at his rallies. Trump is used to speaking without a teleprompter. He can actually spontaneously do something Biden cannot do, and that is think on his feet. Biden is terrible at improvising and depends heavily on his teleprompter, and even with it he’s still a flop. Pause. Repeat the line.

Our prediction? Joe will begin by making loud and angry noises, but he will fade at the finish, even though he will have had the questions in advance along with a week to memorize stuff at Camp David. Yet at this point, CAN he retain for long what he has memorized? We know he has many lies memorized, so don’t be surprised if he talks about growing up in a black church, or his son dying in Iraq…or his uncle being served up by cannibals. Biden will be sure to call President Trump a ‘convicted felon’ many times also.

Look for Jake to turn off Trump’s microphone quickly and often. It will be Tapper’s big chance to get revenge on a person whom he despises the most. Tapper has claimed that Trump and his policies are ‘Hitleresque’ many times. Dana Bash, the Trump hating CNN co-host, will be doing a little Trump ‘bashing’ herself.

It will be Biden’s big night, though…and perhaps his biggest test. If the dimwitted Obama puppet does not shine, look for his strings to be yanked. A poor performance could signal an end to his reelection campaign at the Democratic Convention. Hillary will be waiting in the wings.

Holy shitballs

CNN has actually come out and said they will "aggressively pursue copyright infringement claims via the DMCA" should anyone repost, restream, broadcast or in any other way use this event without express permission of CNN to the fullest extent of the law.

I guess this is how they will attempt to control anything that puts Biden in a bad light. They'll simple copyright strike it to death so it doesn't get any air time. Well good fucking luck with that I say.

@Null

Are we going to see a Kiwi reaction stream? Or will you be too busy eating cheese and laughing?

They'll probably just have youtube send out automated DMCAs and nail anyone who runs ads on any commentary claiming their footage is being used for commercial purposes without permission. Thats the usual way youtubers get fucked with this sort of thing

That said in the middle of the debate trump should just fuck with biden by blurting out that biden still refuses to release the information he was supposed to about aliens and that he saw some reports proving US knowledge about them when he was in office and knows all about the deal obama made when he was president, just to fuck with everybody. The entire internet would go absolutely batshit over it

There is only one candidate worth voting for this election:

Fraiser doesn't recycle his urine and neither does he. Remember that when you vote for him

and if not him theres always elizabeth warren 2.0

A historic showdown between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump is set for Thursday on CNN when the presumptive major party nominees meet for their first debate this election cycle.

The debate will be the earliest such event in US history. Televised presidential debates between general election candidates have always started in September or early October, going back to the first one between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon in 1960.

Here’s how to watch the debate:

When and where will the debate take place?

The 90-minute debate will take place on Thursday, June 27, at 9 p.m. ET at the network’s Atlanta studios.

Who is moderating?

CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will moderate the event.

Where and how can I watch it?

The CNN Presidential Debate will air live on CNN, CNN International and CNN en Español, and via streaming on Max for subscribers and without a cable login on CNN.com. CNN will make the debate available to simulcast on additional broadcast and cable news networks.

You can also follow CNN’s live debate coverage on CNN.com, which will include analysis and fact checking.

What were the qualifications?

Biden and Trump will be the only presidential candidates participating in the debate.

In order to qualify, candidates had to satisfy the requirements outlined in Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution to serve as president, as well as file a formal statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission.

Here are some of the policies Biden says he would enact if elected for a second term

According to parameters set by CNN in May, all participating debaters had to appear on a sufficient number of state ballots to reach the 270 electoral vote threshold to win the presidency and receive at least 15% in four separate national polls of registered or likely voters that meet CNN’s standards for reporting.

Polls that meet those standards are those sponsored by CNN, ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, Marquette University Law School, Monmouth University, NBC News, The New York Times/Siena College, NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist College, Quinnipiac University, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.

Here are some of the policies Trump says he would enact if elected for a second term

Biden and Trump were the only candidates to meet those requirements.

The pair has also agreed to participate in another debate hosted by ABC on September 10.

What are the rules of the debate?

The debate will include two commercial breaks, according to the network, and campaign staff may not interact with their candidate during that time. The candidates agreed to appear at a uniform podium. Microphones will be muted throughout the debate except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak. While no props or pre-written notes will be allowed on the stage, candidates will be given a pen, a pad of paper and a bottle of water. The event will not feature a studio audience.
