people like pat are the biggest danger to any political party. even die hard dems are having a moment “wow the emperor has no clothes” and pat is there to attack them for noticing reality.
He's also blind to what I think is the biggest factor in what might allow Trump to win. I know at least in the right and left leaning circles I move in. There isn't really much sign that people think Trump should win, but there's a lot of people who want to see Biden lose. He can't see past orange man bad. He isn't looking at why people might vote for Trump Beyond assuming they are evil. I'm sure that if they swapped out the leader for the Democrat party this very moment and every moment that follows until election day, he would still immediately fall back in line behind the newest candidate while arguing that they shouldn't be replaced, just changing the name each time he types out those same tweets in support of the new name on the ballot.
I still don't think Trump won 2016 out of popularity. He has his fans, though the only ones I know personally are illegal immigrants from European nations who also happen to be self-hating gays. I'm at the point with the "if I had a nickel" copy pasta for that I'd be coming up on a dollar, I don't know what that demographic is doing for attracting genuine Trump support. What gave Trump 2016 and lost him 2020 is effectively the same thing. Trump's vote is made up of what looks to actually be a minority of hardcore Trump supporters, the standard Republican base who will vote for anyone wearing red that election since they always vote Republican or because they just hate the Democrats enough, and then there was the huge turnout of people who either don't usually vote or would normally vote for Democrat who really didn't want Hillary. That last group, the group that opposed Hillary, was so much more important to the Trump victory than Trump's personal popularity. Likewise, the Anti-Trump legions were what killed him 2020. The question is if those legions have turned sufficiently against Biden or not. And most Democrat I think can see that. I'm pretty sure most Republicans can see that. It's why the Democrats are looking for someone new, and the Republicans are looking to defame Biden.
I refuse to call this upcoming election because, frankly, I'm seeing so many Anti-Trump Republicans and Anti-Biden Democrats that this entire election is a toss-up to me. Parties are less united than at any point I have seen in my life to top it off. The Republicans are ready to split down the middle, and I've been seeing growing discontent and disalignment with Republican voter beliefs and priorities and the Republican party platform anytime I try to make sense of what the voters are wanting and what the parties are promising them. The same is happening with the Democrats. Toss on to the fact that it doesn't matter who wins this election, it is almost certainly the last election for either of them as Joe is already senile and would be incapable of being dragged out for a third round of election, and Trump isn't that young either. Constantly being onto campaign path is stressful. We've seen little bits of Trump being nibbled at at the very edges of his mind for the last 8 years or so. I wouldn't say he's incapable, so long as he does all of his work in the morning I believe he could go for another 4 years without issue which I can't say about Biden, but I would say that in 4 years he will be. Then whichever one wins is going to be on their second term. Neither of them can run for 2028.
I think their current situation can be best summarized in the following statement: Of all of the controversy I have heard concerning these last two presidents who are now going head-to-head after we have one term from each of them has primarily been about the scandals of their sons. It hasn't been about what good or ill. These respective presidents have already had a chance to do for their country.
