You don't need a variety of guns for home defense, just build a moat and grab some alligators to live in it. Alligators are literally free, you can take as many as you want. They're not even endangered or classified as at risk wildlife. Sure, have a couple of guns to make you feel secure. But a troon isn't going to be able to wade through your alligator moat after you pull up your drawbridge in the evening. You think their tacticool vests and tranny antifa patches will stop a squadron of alligators who've sunk their teeth in? I don't think so.

there's a guy who sold snakes as a business and when a certain breed of snakes became illegal he allowed the officers to come in and euthanize the illegal snakes. the cops then killed his boa constrictor, which was legal - after being reminded ten fucking times. the most astonishing part of the clip is how the manchild of an officer says "the state'll fix it".

Florida has passed laws restricting the possession of certain illegal snakes species. A snake breeder asked for permission to have a longer extension in order to sell/adopt. snake breeder asked for permission to have a longer extension in order to sell/adopt some of his illegal snakes. Instead wildlife officers came and euthanized the remaining illegal snakes he had.

They ended up accidentally euthanizing a legal pet boa constrictor.

here's full bodycam footage and more info.

IDK if it would be worth it but since you have a strictly podcast audience as well as a KF audience would you ever do a 1 time segment or show or gumroad showcasing different threads that arent normal lolcow stuff but instead just misc stuff. Feel like most people dont even know that this site has a politics board or a games board

Reminder that .223/5.56 is literally a .22 caliber toy sized gun used for varmints like coyotes and is considered undersized for deer, it's the Walmart slop of guns that amerisharts eat up. It was designed to wound and not kill humans. I'm pretty sure the reason why amerisharts lost in Vietnam and Afghanistan is because they used a gay baby gun chambered in 5.56 NATO. If you want smooth recoil for target shooting go ahead and get an ar platform so you can be tacticool and shit (or buy an AK platform gun with wood furniture in lead tipped 7.62x39 if you're a real man and want more damage at home defense range, or and SKS is you want a cheap semi auto with the cheapest ammo)

Shotguns are stopped very easily with even low level body armor, as is almost every pistol caliber asides from maybe 5.7 mm. However a shotgun with no choke and bird shot will pepper their entire body with tiny lead pellets and leave them in agonizing pain that will take hours in surgery to fix, if they can fix it. Said shotgun with birdshot can be aimed and fired extremely quickly at their face/crotch/arms/legs but lacks killing power (but is the best for blinding or maiming them) Birdshot also has extremely low penetration if you're worried about hitting something behind them.

Null saying he's getting a .50 cal is retarded, I don't think he realizes most 50 Cals are basically an anti-vehicle weapons and they weight a shitload and are long as hell, which is extremely impractical for home defense. Recoil is extreme with .50 bmg.

The ideal home defense gun if you're worried about body armor is a battle rifle in 30-06 or .308 like an old m1 garand (I know Null's opinion on ww2 vets but they had good guns), svt-40, an M-14 platform gun, fal (paint it in based rhodesian camo if you want) etc. That will defeat any practical body armor and still have good ammo capacity. Hell he could even get a mauser or other German weapon from ww2 chambered in 7.92 mm if he has the money and wants to look cool.

Several obscure hunting calibers like 7mm magnum are effective at penetrating body armor as well.

223/556 is designed for killing a ~180lb mammal. That's why it's used on people and hogs. Using a gun bigger than what's necessary means you will have to carry the extra weight and limit your ammo more. Gun engineering progress over the past 80y has been almost completely focused on size/weight reduction while still being able to consistently get an accurate shot that can kill a mammal of the target size. The only difference between guns in 1960s and now is that the manufacturing and metallurgy has improved. The actual science has been well understood for awhile

5.56 has trouble killing malnourished midget Iraqis.

Josh, .50 BMG for home defense is a meme. Get a 1.2m long pinch bar and try doing drills with it. M82 is almost three times heavier lol.
If you want a shotty, buy Benelli M2 (or M4 for LARP purposes). It's probably the best semi-auto shotgun in the world. Very reliable, easy to maintain, doesn't have cycling issues with weird powder loads (unlike many gas-operated shotguns). Slap an extended mag on her and you're set.

I was looking at getting a 930 next. I borrowed one at the range and I really like it

The difference between 556 and 762x39 is basically negligible in the scope of hitting people
I'd disagree. If you use an energy calculator and compare common bullet weights, Hornady 62gr black tip 5.56 vs Hornady 123gr black tip 7.62x39, the 7.62x39 has 15% more energy. I'd say that's enough to make a difference. There are many more examples of guys talking about having to put 5 or more rounds of 5.56 into people when they know if they had something with more ass behind it they would've killed them in 1 or 2 shots.
