I was on an airplane that has onboard wifi recently and sat next to a younger couple, probably early college aged. About 80% of the flight I saw them on their phones just swiping away and tap tap texting. I'm not even that old and seeing that behavior was just so awkward. Phone and internet addiction is a thing and has quite possibly developed into a tick younger people mask their fidgeting with.
