What exactly about this thread being created was "bad behavior" or "community infighting" compared to similar threads in the past? If it's a new rule I have no problem with that

If it's now considered community infighting to post DM chains for the purpose of mocking the users in them I'd like to have something to point at if a fellow user asks "can I post this" and I tell them "no". Rules being clearly explained and specific is helpful, I think.

You side-stepped the main point of my post - the fact that a thread like this being made leading to a ban - is new and should probably explicitly be made clear in the rules of the site not to post DM chains.
