My personal theory is a mix of the whole Roald Dahl quote and general poor mental health. I genuinely believe Anisa to be deeply mentally ill and that she's completely unaware of it, like a classic Cluster B personality disorder.
That paired with the fact that Anisa has such a hard time posing like a normal human in images and the whole sexless vibe she emits, it becomes a potent cocktail of "stay the fuck away from this person".
There is this other lolcow/lolcow orbiter lady called Naked And Laughing, also known as KingcobraJFS' girlfriend - when she was a young woman, in her late teens early twenties, she looked like a perfectly normal young woman if a bit homey. You can't really tell in the early pics that there's something wrong with her but she quickly begins to deteriorate and devolve into the turkey-waddle-necked lunatic we know and love today thanks to decaying mental health.
My theory essentially boils down to Anisa slowly devolving from a hopeful example of a slightly quirky but otherwise socially acceptable woman into..whatever the fuck she is now.
Younger Anisa isn't "ugly", visually, until she smiles and shows the rows of too-many-teeth in that pearshaped skull of hers and when she starts to talk, nothing of depth or value comes out.

When I look at Anisa I see an attempt to mimic poison dart frogs - the hair cuts, the tattoos, the way she dresses all act as the bright coloured frog's body does. A big fat warning to stay away from her. Her personality doesn't do her any favours, either.
