What enrages me the most is Mercedes literally has people harassing others for her "monthly payments" saying "This is unacceptable" if they don't send her money.

Jesus Christ, what an entitled, shitty bitch. Unless someone owes you money and has a pre-agreed payment plan that they've missed payments on, this is the sort of language that gets a person blocked and/or punched in the throat. Imagine scolding people who have supported you willingly and voluntarily like that... I had a 'friend' for a few years who had the same bewildering mindset. If you refused her requests for a loan/help with whatever/talking to her any time she was depressed, that was fine and you were still friends. But if you did these things once, she expected you to keep doing them forever, regardless of your situation or struggles. If you lent her money at some point, you obviously have spare money laying around all the time, no matter if you're now out of work or your car just shit itself etc, and you are now obligated to drag her out of whatever financial hole she'd dug herself into at the time. Same with any other aid or support or attention; you did it once, you are now obligated to do it forever, and if you refused for any reason, God help you.

Unlike Mem she did actually work, but she had the same absolute refusal to live within her means and inability to recognise that everyone struggles at some point, not just her.

There's nothing quite like someone who has triple your own meager income ringing you and demanding money because she's struggling with rising costs of living... WTAF, you bogan.

I can't get over the absolute fucking audacity of those twitter beggars. If they spent half the time looking for work that they did online begging they wouldn't constantly be facing eviction and disconnections.

Odd, I can still see posts. Doesn't look like anything has changed in the last half hour, at least not from the incognito browser I'm looking at it from. It was reasonably locked-down to begin with, which is why I couldn't get much of use from it.

Wouldn't surprise me if she is aware of us,though. Definitely seems the sort to search herself online fairly frequently. If she is, I'm mildly impressed that she hasn't publicly spazzed out about le ebil boolies and gained us a few new signups tbh.

Redbubble lists them as being in 'Kent, United States' but from the Facebook I suspect they are or at least were in Reno. They claim to be living in a hotel but a lot of people ITT smell bullshit emanating from that claim for various reasons.

Still no idea what her first name is, either, or if she's legally changed it to a male one already, but I think she's got a fiancee/spouse and some sort of income beyond selling shitty furry art and e-begging. I'll keep digging when I have time.. thanks for the pointers, fren <3

Perhaps falling victim to a grifter who tries to pass themselves off as a friend was once a rite of passage and a lesson not to be too trusting of people with a sob story . I had a similar experience with a grifter who tried to get bolder with asks for assistance before being caught in a lie and going radio silent when presented with screenshots of the lie.

As consistently stated in this thread, it's hard to have any sort of sympathy or empathy for the featured e-beggars in this thread. If all they are capable of doing is begging because they lack marketable/employable skill, it's hard to give money knowing it will never truly better their situations. If they are lying about their situation to get pitybux, they're simply insufferable jerks. If they refuse to prioritize spending, it shows they are selfish. For example, Mem needs to make the stray cats a lower priority if she is so far behind in rent and utilities that she's facing eviction and shutoff.

Sadly, too many people have a guilt complex and have been conditioned to accept sob stories at face value, and this enables grifters to get the money they do and remain emboldened to continue e-begging.

There's not much incentive for a DNO (the guys who manage the cabling from a transformer to your meter) to pull the plug on your electricity. It means the supplier (the guys that manage your meter) can't sell you electricity anymore. Also getting it reconnected is a huge song-and-dance for everyone involved. They'd rather you work out a way to pay it with them. In the UK, there's a lot of handholding and charities and support systems for this precisely because the big power companies responsible for supporting the power grid want their money.

See the propane tank shenanigans on the Tranch for an analogous example of this in action. Tl;dr the tank was taken away and everyone immediately suspected dereliction of payment because the propane company would rather be selling you propane than not.

Derelicting your utility payments usually results in the debt being sold to collections who don't give two shits about your power situation. You owe them $$$ and they'll pester you in all the traditional ways. If they can't get what you owe, the courts get involved. Only when you've been dragged through litigation and collections will the DNO consider sending someone out to remove the fuse between distribution and residential meter. All of this takes place over the course of about six months (and you can extend this by up to 8 weeks by opening new complaints at tired energy company phone jeets. Even further still if you then demand a deadlock letter.), so I can only asssume that she's ignored or floppycocked many, many attempts at contact until the DNO got sick of her shit.

Possible. If the sewage bit is true, they might be running space heating constantly to dry out the basement. About 50% of your average power bill is space heating/cooling so it clocks up bills very quickly.

The biggest tell that these people are full of shit is that they have absolutely 0 knowledge of resourcefulness and frugality. If you need clothes, the last thing you need to be doing is buying 20$ plain t-shirts from target. You can get amazing deals at thrift stores and dollar stores. One of my favorite shirts is one I got from a thrift store for 4$.

The amount of money it takes these burger fucks to get one puppychan-sized order from Mickey D's off DoorDash, with all the extra fees and upcharges those delivery apps tack on, could easily get you ingredients to cook a pot of something that can feed you for days if you plan it out. But of course they'll just say they're top disabled to cook or something along those lines and they have no choice but to eat 30$ worth of goyslop they can't afford. People who are genuinely poor and struggling unlike these idiots know how to get their money's worth when it comes to food.

generally yes, a hotel/motel or similar is more expensive than an apartment or typical housing (even ignoring her refusal to share accommodations with others that fail to meet some exacting criteria). hotels have to also be very careful about long term guests as in some states they can claim residency and it becomes onerous to remove them for lack of payment if it goes on long enough.

what is likely the case is that the particular area she's staying in has favorable extended stay hotel rooms with furnished rooms and since these typically include services and utilities the rates might be comparable to an Air BnB or single room apartments in expensive areas minus the need to maintain property or go through rental agreement requirements which can include first and last month deposits, background checks, credit check, et c. while some hotels do this as well, most are okay with just keeping a valid credit card on file.

from the weekly begging, her arrangement is costing around $700/wk on average (some months cheaper, some months more expensive). $700(4)=$2800/mo not including any other expenses. in my general area, that is the cost of a bare 1bdrm efficiency apartment, no utilities beyond heat/garbage/water, and no furnishings or insurance, or other utility bills, in a typical suburban area. depending on where the hotel is, it might legitimately be hardly more expensive than a normal rental agreement per square foot.
