Video Game Husbands - Lusting after pixelated men

You fool, OP. Look what you've done.

I also enjoy Arthur from the second game, though not as much. Arthur is certainly more complex mentally, but whereas John's honour and decency in the first game came naturally Arthur had to struggle to be a decent person. Still, he is handsome and his chivalry appeals to me.
Oh I am obsessed with Arthur.

My other vg crush is Goro Takemura, who you in fact cannot romance in the game. I'm still seething over that. Someone commented to me once that he pretty much fails all his missions (couldn't protect yorinobu, couldn't kill V, couldn't convince hanako (apologies if I get something wrong it's been a while since I played)) but I don't care I'm still madly in love with this non exiting man.

I think as women we can all relate to having the occasional book boyfriend or fantasy lover from a film or television series.
Can someone please explain to me how this works? Stupid question; i've just never gotten it. Barely on the male's side of things and even less on the female side of things. Does this just involve enjoying their looks to an unhealthy degree? Taking pleasure in imagining them as a loving husband/wife for escapism? "Literally me"ing them to such an extent that you think of them when trying to describe who you are?

Apologies if this derails, i've just been curious for a very long while now and this thread seems like a decent place to ask.

Well I can't really think of any gaming characters that get me going. But, I can say that the only character I ever married in a game was Ghorbash the Iron Hand in Skyrim. And when he complained that city living would make the kids soft I agreed and we moved them to the Lakewood Manor.

Just the boyfriend thingy or the general husbando stuff?

I like characters that would absolutely murder me, and I'm not under any delusion otherwise. The amount of overlap in tropes they have is probably part of why I like 'em both.

Is it autistic? Absolutely!

One of my earliest husbandos. Lyle from Phantasy Star 3:

Even though the game doesn't have much characterization Lyle comes off as the coolest and has a great multi-generational story arc. And his grandson has best ending.

Lyle's wife is never revealed so you can self insert as his waifu.🤗

he actually gets hanako killed in failed raid against yarinobu guy so he is pretty much midlife crisis personalized

i aint a girl but my example to follow since i was a lil shit was jimmy raynor and everything about him is pure power fantasy about being a kickass rebel fucking shit up with his company full of shadowy figures (till hots where he ended up into some sort of beta male on rehab)

It just means being attracted to a fictional character, whether pixelated, played by an actor or otherwise non-existent. It's just fun escapist fantasy as fictional men never disappoint, lmao. I don't personally relate to the first or third examples, though the second seems accurate enough. Other times it can be a way to immerse yourself in a fictional world, as in imagining what it would be like to live in that setting and the relationships you'd have with the characters. Sometimes it's sexual 🫣

Stuck in a torrid affair with this guy:
Nvm that he has like only five in game assets, is not playable or recruit able, and barely interacts with you except to kill you or get killed by you (unless you cheat and know the very specific thing you have to do by a time limit to prevent that).

Also I’m surprised nobody posted Morgott yet. Don’t we all love Morgott?
