You can't tell ANYTHING about a gunshot from a TV recording.

This is something that should be considered; microphones have a threshold, and even if they get the full decible, what's actually recorded isn't going to be the same, because it exceeds the threshold. Most guns and thing sounds like a basic pop, because the sound is equalized through the device. So anyone saying what caliber or whatever via the sound, most likely they're wrong.
