That's ironically how I found out about it. One of my IRL acquaintances (I hesitate to call him a friend), straight up called it "good news" that Trump almost got assassinated.

Anyone with half a brain would recognise you don't want to say "we" in this scenario. We cannot be like this means we, us, our are currently like this. You're affirming the man who just tried to shoot Trump is your supporter. What you want to do is say "I reject this, I am appalled by this, this lone wolf terrorist deserved the retribution he faced". But since this man's senile he can't even consider the most basic level of strategic communications.

For the record I think this is good, as it should add to the pile on that will result in a Trump presidency. Hurry the election up and get Trump in stat.

"We" in this case probably simply means "The American people." Because the job of the President is to represent and speak for the American people.
