California has the most welfare users, by a lot, followed by Texas, then New York. And going by highest welfare spending per capita, the top ten states in order are: New York, Alaska, Massachusetts, California, Rhode Island, Minnesota, New Mexico, Vermont, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

Neither of your links are about welfare spending, they're both about Federal spending per state. That includes Federal Aid for things like hurricane disaster relief, flooding, earthquakes, etc. Tornado alley and the coastal states obviously will always get more federal aid, regardless of whether they are red or blue. That isn't a political issue, but simple geography.

More telling, this Federal Spending also includes federal grants to defense contractors, which is probably why Virginia has the highest federal spending per capita (over $10,000). Obviously any state with major military contractors will get a lot of federal money, Lockheed in Texas, GlaxoSmithKline in North Carolina, General Dynamics and Raytheon in Connecticut, etc.

Also Pfizer in New York and Moderna in Massachusetts got like $18 billion in DoD contracts for vaccine a few years ago.

All of that gets counted as Federal Aid spending, and has really nothing to do with whether a state is a "welfare sponge".

You can't help but to juxtapose the competing pictures. You got Biden who can barely stay coherent and remember that Zelensky is President of Ukraine and not Putin. And then you got trump who literally had a bullet clip his brain case and moments later his first instinct is to rally the crowd. That's something primal. That is literally the General on his horse who gets it shot out from under him and instead of pissing himself he tells the aide de camp to dismount so he can climb back up onto a new horse and let the men know he's not dead and still in charge.

It say's more about someone in mere moments that endless debates, opinion articles and media churn cannot possibly convey even if they had infinite money and infinite time.
