It genuinely sucks they were abused, but embracing their emergent perversions is the wrong way to live with it.

I get that the child characters from Invader Zim are hardly realistic depictions of children and the way Kyle Carrozza handled it was deliberately predatory in nature, but let's not completely downplay it either.

• Interview starts very friendly and informative, one moment worth mentioning is Doug defending CalArts, make of that what you will
• At some point they're talking about Rekieta, and Doug randomly admits that there were days that his own kids were starving, suggests that they were probably just being picky eaters (the way he words this is very awkward and slow, so if it was a joke, it was very poorly executed)
• Ashton starts pressing Doug a little on his stances regarding Rekieta, who Doug had been on shows with in the past
• When they move to the topic of John K, Doug says "we all knew"
• He gets pressed on this, and he has to walk back things he says or reword things
• A lot of the discussion is friction between Ashton and Doug's interpretations of Christian morality, such as when someone should be rebuked for their sins or intervened and encouraged to turn their life around (i.e. Rekieta), one later example involved Doug seeming to struggle to acknowledge differing degrees of moral severity of sin, namely the difference in severity from pedophilia and severity in homosexuality or swearing
• Interview ends relatively amicably, but after Doug leaves, Andy and Ashton are still bewildered by the direction things took

Anime is basically realistic human figures with a cartoon head and western animators are just incapable of depicting that. If you ever see a 2d animation that depicts the human figure with few shortcuts, you can pretty much guarantee that it was drawn in east Asia.

Animators in the west cannot make anything that doesn't look like this shit.
